Vacation tours and improvements on 6.0s

I bought my 2006 F350 6.0 in Germany 2015 and converted it into a camper until 2018. It currently has ~55000mls (stock). Since 3 years we use it for weekend trips and short holidays, but also once a year for a longer holiday trip for about 4 weeks. In 2018 we have already been to the south of Scandinavia, in 2019 we completely travelled around Ireland, this year it is the north of Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland). Planned are about 4000-5000mls, at the moment we are after 1200mls near Trondheim/Norway. The truck got new head gaskets from the previous owner, but no studs, I still want to do this work. I had to improve the technique in many things, there is not much left in original condition ;-) The engine has an EGR delete, coolant filter, snow plow fan clutch and radiator from IPR. A retrofitted low coolant alarm and some other stuff. The weight is 14300lbs, here the original cooling system reaches its limit at extreme slopes and outside temps over 90°F, but the IPR upgrade is also on the limit. I suppose it is because of the missing fan shroud, so I have to build something. Because of the thicker radiator the original fan shroud doesn't fit anymore.
Here we can post pictures and useful technical changes that might be interesting for travelers with 6.0. If I have an internet connection, I will post pictures here again and again next 4 weeks from on the road.
Greetings to all FTEs from Norway!

Since the North Cape, we have been driving down the western coast of Norway. With 6 to 6.5 hours of driving a day, distances of 150-350mls are possible. The narrow, sometimes poor coastal roads condition don't allow any more. In addition, there have been heavy rain showers over the last few days. We refuel every 1-2 days, diesel prices of the equivalent of $US 8.40 / gal. are our biggest cost factor.
We took a few ferries so we don't had to drive around every fjord. We also crossed the Arctic Circle again on a ferry, this time in a southerly direction and in much worse weather.

We passed a public weighbridge:
Front axle: 5732 lbs.
Rear axle: 8600 lbs.
so 14332 lbs. in total

obviously too many tools on board.

Nice pics and rig! Looks like amazing country you are traveling. Would love to be able to take 4-weeks off, but I think work would kill me!

Curious on your center console (between the two front seats). Is that a custom job you put together? Looks much more useful than the stock one...

That is Hartwig at his finest.
He fabricated that a few months ago. Go back on his posts and he shows how he did it. Really nice work.

After a "coffee-stop" clima controlle went on strike. All fuses checked and reinstalled, then everything worked again. Hm.

Thanks.
On the way here through Germany and Denmark I had uphill disturbing EOTs last week with an outside temperature of 98°F. I want to keep EOTs below 212, no matter what the load.
The 6.0 does not want heat. I ride at about 10psi coolant pressure. At 212EOT and 205ECT the pressure climbs up to 15psi. When the temps drop, the pressure drops back to 10psi.
At the moment there are slopes, but no high temps. I can't test at home because I live on the flat land. My truck weighs 14300lbs and with the cabin it is of course a moving barn door. Let's see what the north brings...We are here at the polar circle. It does not get dark at night.

Wow, amazing work on the center console. One of these days I need to venture into the "What did you do on your 6.0" thread. It's a bit daunting to start from the beginning.

Regarding EOT's 212 isn't that bad. I'm regularly up around 220 towing in the 100+ heat. On the long hills I'm up around 230 EOT/220ECT.

BTW, are you an Ex-pat from the US? Noticed you're using all of our US units of measure...miles, F, psi, etc. I'm surprised the Europeans tolerate that!

I am unfortunately only a German who would like to emigrate to the USA. I was already several times on vacation with you. But the probability for a permanent right to stay for an honest craftsman like me is too small in the USA . Here in Germany every petty criminal may stay, it is unbelievable what is "imported" here. This has nothing to do with refugees.
If I may, I would rather leave here today than tomorrow. But that is another duscission...

The temps you mentioned would worry me
I'll convert the units so you don't have to convert them :-))

today we continued driving directly on the coast and had 3 ferry crossings and a steep pass where the powerstroke had to work properly. Tomorrow we will cross the polar circle, we are standing at the red dot on the last picture. Today we spend the night on a camping site (at the water ;-) ) because of very bad weather and wash our clothes.
