Hot No Start

Had my 2005 F350 in to the local Ford dealer for a no start hot issue. Mechanic did high pressure test found no leeks, switched out IPR and ICP no luck. Told me last thing was the HPOP so he changed that out too. Got the call "truck is fixed! I took it out many times and could not get it to no start hot." Guess what...I got it to No Start Hot. Just drove it 30 miles on a cold day (29f) eot and ect not even over 170f each. Got any ideas? Thanks

So coolent is higher than eot, shouldn't be any over 15deg, when was the last flush and Thermostat change? and how long of a crank to start? don't want to fry the Starter.

You sound surprised that you had a no start hot with ECT of 170*. I had one after driving only 5 blocks, my second one happened on a 105* day and it was the first start of the day. So your experience with the no start hot is not abnormal, however your experience with the MECHANIC is. Ask him if your old HPOP had the REVISED STC FITTING installed on it or if he put one on while he was in there??
since you knew your ECT was at 170* I assume you have Gauges like a ScanGauge2? If so you should post IPR & ICP #s so we can get a look at your HPOP SYSTEM.

Probably dummy plugs and or standpipes. Sounds like the mechanic is a parts thrower and an expensive one at that.

He can make more money off the expensive ones. Plus its sounds more technical replacing a HPOP over some old stand pipes.
This way he is sure to get a return customer and its something new every time.

Sounds like ford made some $$ on this. Mechanic is a parts pusher.
What was the ICP when it was cold and started? What was the ICP and IRP when warmed up and running?? Was the screen in the IRP clean or clogged up or broken?? These are ??'s id be asking ford mechanic. The HPOP is your year of truck was a good one,

Assuming this is the same issue, you did not have a mechanic working on your tuck. Because the quality of your air test (if one was indeed conducted) is questionable, the possibilities for what your problems are are numerous. It's clear you need a thermostat. Need more info on the truck.

Places to start:
STC fitting
Dummy plugs and stand pipes
Ipr or icp pigtail
Ipr valve / screen
Ficm issues
Tons of other less likely possibilities

Give us more info on the truck with some gage readings and there's plenty of brain power and good people here to help.

STC fitting shouldn't be an issue if the HPOP was replaced, unless the mechanic changed the STC on the old pump and charged for new pump...

Just thinking out loud.

Mostly hot no-start on an 05+ is dummy plugs, followed by the STC. Standpipes are the least likely and the HPOP even less likely.

My '05 had a hot no start. It was the STC fitting.

If the HPOP was indeed replaced then it already has the updated STC....
