Hot start issue?

Good evening fellow 6.0'ers.

firstly- are all hot start issues related to dummy plugs and stand pipes? Every time I've had an issue its always the dummy plugs.

secondly , is anyone using these?

https://www.dieselsite.com/2004.5-2010dieselsite60lstandpipes.aspx

thirdly, I haven't looked into it, but I might be having a random issue. It fires up fine, but don't hit with as much umph as it should.
I'll try and upload a clip. Nope. Won't work. I'll have to try and take a video.

That's a mighty inclusive question. No, it's not always sunny plugs or stand pipes. If memory serves, it's rarely dummy plugs. It could be HPOP, LPOP, FICM, STC or IPR.

I haven't tried those didn't plugs. The lack of umph could be injectors, turbo, vgt actuator, low HPOP pressure, and plenty of other things.

I still havent looked at anything on the truck.

the umph is directly related to the possibility of a hot start issue. Typically when ya hit the key it will rev up to 1100 rpm or so and then idles down to 900rpm . It does this in the morning, after the truck as been sitting for a while.

When it fires up warm, it goes right to the 900 rpm. I dont believe it has any lack of power going down the road. Once again, I haven't look at anything on the truck, I'm just pre posting , getting everyone's thoughts on the old girl.

the injectors were almost new. Previous shop had replaced these 4 injectors, HPOP, standpipes and dummy plugs, but still no start hot. The truck then stood for over a year before it was towed to me and I found the issue. In the meantime I had bought the truck from the customer, it is the engine in which I installed my screwable standpipes to test whether my idea would work.

As always, Hartwig, great diagnosis. You'd be a Rock Star in the USA.

So what was bad about the injector? Was it just that O-ring in the top of it? Isn't that replaceable?

Maybe dumb questions but haven't had to mess with mine and hoping I never have to.

The o-rings were fine. The air escaped from the holes at the top of the injector

It didnt take long to turn into a hot no start. I ordered the above parts from diesel site. I'd be willing to bet that it's the dummy plugs again. I've done them all a few times using OE parts. I still havent looked st the truck. I've been using the trusty 05 5.4 for the last week.

If done right with good parts, there should be no "again". I'm guessing it's something else.

No " again " using the diesel site parts or the OE parts?
