Silly question: What is "max AC"?

The 2013 F150 has an AC button (turns on the compressor), an air distribution button (switches the airflow between panel vents, floor vents, etc), and a recirculate button.

What is the purpose of the "max AC" button? It seems redundant, since we already have other buttons to do everything the "max AC" button does -- unless I'm missing something...

Yes, I checked the manual and I have done searches. I just don't see what the "max AC" button does that these other buttons don't already do.

Maybe "max AC" is kind of a "quick set" to select panel vents, recirculate, and compressor-enabled?

Max ac = fresh air duct closed, recirculation duct open, fan speed high.

That's pretty much it is like a shortcut.

Exactly what is this "fan speed high" you speak of? As I posted in his/her/its other thread, I didn't think this is correct so I checked. Max AC on my 2010 XLT did NOT put the [interior circulation] fan in high speed, and it still doesn't do it on my 2013 STX. The exterior condensing fan does not automatically come on in any speed.

a thought i've had on the same, but just a thought

on all other settings, other than max, there is some kind of "built in thermostat" control output air temp, but on "max", no control, just max cold.

Unless you have one of them thar fancy pick em up trucks, there's no thermostat on the heat or ac. The temperature control just tells the blend for to go to a spot and stay there.

Interior controls are for cabin adjustments. NOT system wide operation.

The control panel selection determines heating or cooling, air distribution and enables blower motor operation.
  • The temperature control setting determines the outlet air temperature.
  • The blower motor switch varies the blower motor speed.
  • During A/C operation, the system reduces the relative humidity of the air inside the vehicle

The description is accurate. However if you'd like a more technical system wide operation discussion, you'd have to go to school for such systems and spend 40 years of your life doing it professionally so we have a common frame of reference.

I DID go to school for such systems- in 1978, with numerous updates since. And I HAVE spent 40 yrs of my life doing it professionally. So here's an idea- stop being such a pompous *******. The original question (in the other thread) was "does the interior fan come on in high speed when Max AC is selected?" Your answer in this thread implies it does but my experience is that it doesn't so I asked for clarification. If you can't do that then maybe STFU and we'll figure it out without you.

i believe MAX makes the fan go to HIGH SPEED.... that is NOT a "higher" speed than you can select with the speed control.. If you are at a LOW or medium AC cooling speed and you push MAX.. the vent closes and the SPEED goes to HIGH... If you were already at HIGH speed, you get NO MORE... just close the outside vents.
