Climate control and AC question

I'm confused about the operation of the climate control&AC on a 97 f150 lariat(newer style)
I noticed cold air ..ac running.. in the PANEL&FLOOR mode...odd
AC is off in the PANEL and the OFF mode (not sure about the FLOOR mode)
AC is on in the AC and MAXAC modes which is normal.
My manual does not state that the ac will run in the PANEL & FLOOR. Is the system running normally, or should i be looking for a problem?
Thanks

I had the same question for a ford mechanic last week (just picked my truck up last week).

I was told that it's normal. 'Floor' is apparently the only setting the AC won't work on.

I was given reasons for the AC, Max AC and Defroster settings (all of which are understandable), but none for the "Panel & Floor."

I, too, am confused.

This keeps the compressor running year around to keep things lubed and to keep the seals from getting hard and leaking. It will run in all settings except for OFF, PANEL and FLOOR.

OK then this is my final answer as indicated on dial? AC compressor runs**
MAX AC **
AC **
PANEL
OFF
PANEL&FLOOR**
FLOOR
FLR&DEF**
DEF**
I guess PANEL can be considered VENT on some vehicles?

I'm the one-brick-short-of-a-load guy - turns out I DO have a 'Panel' setting. Sorry gentlemen.

:-)

Best,
Dave

LOL

Jeez I am liking this extended cab truck - I can take multiple freinds places -with A/C- ! July 4th - four people, three coolers and a large charcoal grill all fit easily.

Too cool.

I love mine, I can keep tools locked up behind me with the small part of the rear seat folded up and still have passenger room and don't need a toolbox in the bed
