I have a 2003 Supercrew, 5.4L, auto. Is the air conditioner supposed to be on for all the switch positions on the vent control. The only time it appears to be off is when it is set to "Panel". In any other position it stays on. Is this normal?
Thanks.
That is one thing I don't like about mine. I only want the ac on when I have it on ac. I was disappointed when I found that out. If you want to defog your windsheild, I think the best way to do that is to get the inside the same temperature as the out side. Kind of hard to do that the way it is.
I guess they did this to keep the compressors moving and from seizing up. I don't like it either. The 2004's have a a/c button to control the compressor in any setting I think.
I have the same problem on my 03 supercrew. Is that true for all F150s of that year? Mine seems to be on pretty much on every setting around the dial. I can't tell how warm to set the thermostat to make it shut off. Wastes gas when you don't really need the AC but just want the fan on.
It must be in VENT or FLOOR or OFF to keep the compressor off. All other positions, it will run. I believe that all 97-03 F150's as well as SD trucks do this.
