It overwrites the tune. The only small tune compounding is adding a FICM tune to a PCM tune.

so aside from the smoke it’s smooth again? Was the turbo cleaned as a part of all this work?

Yes, just smoke. In the "stock" tune it smokes a bit, and with the SCT X4 "street" tune it smokes too. Sometimes more sometimes less. The turbo makes about 20psi under load, and I rebuilt it a couple months ago, and replaced the VGT valve. It sounds and runs good aside from the smoke as far as I can tell.

Turns out I had a bad EBP. Still smokes a tiny bit, but nothing like it did.
