I recently took my 2003 F-350 6.0 into Ford because of an emission service light coming on. They came back telling me the following codes, I looked up the codes and what they relate to. PO405 (exhaust gas recirdulation sensor A), P2285 (ICP-just replaced), P1284 (ICP) and P1408 (EGR). Their diagnosis was that the EGR valve needed to be replace and the PCM (powertrain control module) was bad. (Roughly $1400.00) I am not truck savvy at all and am wondering if this sounds right to anyone. The truck seems a little sluggish when you step on it but other than that there is no noticable difference in its performance. Am I just getting taken for being a blonde? (
I would say that the tech that is working on it has no clue or is not a diesel tech. I could be wrong but that ICP could just be the connector. I have heard of some that are contaminated with oil causing the issues. As far as the EGR codes they are common as well as faulty egr valves on the 6.0l My advice would be to get a second opinion, also is the truck atleast close to the 100k warranty. if it is maybe you could have them slpit the cost with you. Just my .02.
Also depending on the in service date of your truck as long as you are under 100k it may still be under warranty.

What made the tech think you should replace the PCM?The EGR valve and ICP and harness pig tail yes but the PCM didn't throw a code. The code for a bad PCM on a running truck is 0603 or 0605.If I were in your shoes I would get a second opinion. Also when the last ICP was put in check the invoice to see if the pig tail was replaced.
