Hooked up engine code reader. Throwing 4 codes. Please help!
My engine light has been on all weekend, so this morning I hooked up my Superchips to pull the DTC codes. I recieved the following codes;
Written exactly how shown from monitor:
[1] "P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circ Range/Perf"
[2] "P0405 Exhaust Gas Recirculation sens A Circ Low"
[3] "P0603 Internal Ctrl Mod Kam Error"
[4] "P2285 Injector Ctrl Pressure Sens Circ Low"
I have absolutely no idea what these codes mean, but I copied them down exactly how they were shown on the monitor and exact spelling. I don't know where I can look these codes up, but I was hoping that I could get some help from you guys and you could tell me what these codes mean.
The first two are saying that the EGR system isn't happy,is the EGR valve un plugged? The third is the computer telling of a discharged battery,bad connection to the PCM or a faulty PCM.The last one is the Injector control pressure (ICP) is out of spec to the low side.
The EGR is plugged in. Is there a maintance that the EGR needs like a cleaning or anything like that? I've heard of the EGR throwing multiple codes and causing many 6.0 problems. What exactly is a discharged battery, bad connection to the PCM or faulty PCM? I just installed the SuperChips tuner about a week ago, wouldn't that have something to do with the PCM? And as for the Injector Control Pressure is out of spec, that would be a bad injector, wouldn't it? Because in the morning when I crank her up it takes a while for her to start running good. After about 10-15 minutes she runs normal. Is there any kind of way I can tell which or how many injectors are bad? There are 8 injectors, correct?
The egr cleaning procedure is in the Tech folder on top of the fourm.The ICP is not the injectors its a sensor that reads oil pressure that is used to fire the injectors(the code says the high pressure oil systems pressure is low).Check your oil and make sure it's in the hash marks.Long crank times and hard starts could be the low oil,ICP going south or the batteries getting weak.The batteries on the 6.0l must be maintained as they can cause a multitude or problems one of which is a failed FICM=$, long crank times or a no start even though the truck cranks over.The fact that there were no contrubution codes for the injectors is good news as the puter says all is well.That 603 code may well be the tuner I don't know.
I am going to reset the DTC's and see what codes they throw. I am almost due for an oil change. I checked my oil the other day and it was perfect, a little black. Brickie, I appreciate your help.
I have a slight oil leak, and I believe it's coming from somewhere on top of the engine, because I cannot find the leak anywhere, but it is trickling down on to the tranny and oil pan. Is this a common problem with the 6.0s?
If yours is an 03 or early 04 that oil leak is the ICP and it answers the 2285 code and might very well be the rough running problem.The sensor is about 100 bucks and a PITA to change.Do a search for changing the ICP and all the info you need is in this forum at your finger tips.
