never heard of a law preventing carrying a gun as long as you can in the states you travel to and from.
Any adult US citizen with no felonies can carry here (WY), anyway they want to. But pulling and shooting someone can only be when it’s your last and only resort. If you can flee, you must do that unless it’s in your home then you can go ahead and turn them into Glockamole.
As to the gun carry, it is legal to carry it in the commercial truck, but has to be unloaded and locked away, so you aren't going to just grab it and draw down on someone accosting you. Plus, as this article says, so many independent gun laws around the country that carrying can get you in trouble in one place but not another, best bet for someone classified as a commercial driver going all over the country is to not carry.
As to me, company policy also keeps one out of my truck.
