Remember, EGR is introducing soot to the intake...
Not all of it, soot is in the blow-by past the rings at every combustion cycle, and most of that is suspended in the oil vapor which is incredibly hard to remove from the CCV air. Why do you think it took a federal mandate for diesel engines to use a CCV vs an OCV system? I will tell you this for free it wasn't because it was best for the longevity of the engines, more likely it is best for cash flow.

I should have specified not all of it... Believe me, I'm not nor would never say this EPA crap and mandates are the bomb or good for engines...
All this talk we've been having is making me thinking about reducing MY OCIs back to 5k to 6k miles...
But I'm really curious about that Parker CCV filter to replace my Mishimoto oil catch can and using the hoses that are connected to them with it... Thanks to Doc Brown Fritz for the idea...

I made the catch can, used pvc tubing and painted it black. The ccv hose will connect to the can at the elbow, vent holes are drilled in the top cap. Not sure where I will mount it yet but most likely under the cab, keeping it simple. Next will be to install a brass drain valve and a mounting bracket. If I need to make it larger,.... I can. Currently the capacity is about 20 oz.
My DIY system is working great since the install, after 500 miles of use I was able to drain out some liquid from the can. But where my 90 degree elbow mounts to the can I'm going to replace it with a T fitting, and from there tap into the exhaust.
Forgot you ordered that... still haven't had a chance to look into whether what I'm thinking will work or not. It'll have to be when I change my oil soon... Post up pics Fritz.
