Question Ignition issue

Hello. New to group. I have a 06 6.0 with an ignition issue or starter issue.

I have no lights on the dash/no noise no ticks I do have the door ding and milage when I turn the key to the on position. But when I turn the key to the start position everything light up and immediately cranks but won't start. If I pull out the starter relay and turn the key to on I get all communication dash lights glow plugs fuel pump. I can get it to start with the starter relay out and jumping the exciter wire. Ive replaced the ignition as well as the ignition switch. Do you think it could be a bad selonoid on the starter? Thanks!

So, if you pull the starter relay everything acts normally?

The starter solenoid is not the problem from what you've stated

Yes with the starter relay out I can cycle the key on and everything lights on dash it goes threw its pre startup cycle. If I leave the key in that postion and plug in the relay it starts the motor. If I try to start it with the starter relay plugged in I have nothing with key turned on, only when I turn it to start position does cluster light up

Is that a relay that will easily swap with others? I'd try that first, it sounds like its working though.
Any strange electrical problem usually warrant a check of grounds, hopefully someone with 06 electrical can post the related schematics for power and grounds
It could be a problem with the CJB itself.
Have you looked for codes with a good scanner such as Forscan? Does it connect when the relay is plugged in, key on but no IC lights?
If you're not aware the PCM controls the start relay

for my clarification...

Does plugging in relay activate the starter immediately & it starts?

Or do the lights stay on when you plug in relay, and can then crank with ignition switch normally & it starts?

I don't have a good scanner. When i plug in the ob2 port the scanner turns on with without turning the key. I tried swaping relay and issue is still there. Ill start checking my grounds. Thanks for your help so far

Update. I Found the issue. I was going over the truck cleaning grounds and I saw a ground that didn't look factory under the dash. I traced it up under the dash and tucked way up in was a python security device. With that unhooked the issue was gone!
