Fuel supply issue?

2004 F250 6.0 SD owner. I've got a fuel supply issue with no start. The last few days she started fine but started to lack power when touching the pedal and I had to limp it home from work yesterday. To try to solve my issues I just replaced both fuel filters and replaced the fuel pump on the rail line under the drivers seat. When I turn the key to prime it I can hear the pump working, but it keeps going and won't stop. When I checked the secondary fuel filter (under the hood) it is empty (won't fill like it should). Am I looking at an issue with the in-tank hose? Is there an in-tank pump I don't know about? Thanks in advance for any advice...

I'll reply to push this up the forum again. Don't know your answer, but there is a known failure with the, IIRC, float in the tank.

What is your current fuel level? If ~1/4 tank or less, it sounds like a possible broken pickup foot in the tank.

Watch this video (not mine - just found one on youtube). It will help you isolate whether the problem is before or after pump.

Thanks to you both for responding with ideas/video links. I dropped the tank (all parts intact and no crud in tank), blew the lines before and after the pump and as stated, replaced the pump and filters. I now have fuel in the secondary reservoir like I should and the pump turns off after priming. Truck starts and idles but I have no power when I’m driving and trying to accelerate. I had to limp it home from work yesterday after it got me there with no issues. Seems starved for fuel when I try to accelerate. Tank is approximately 1/3 full. Could this be a fuel pressure regulator or HCFM issue? I’m out of ideas and not sure what part to throw at it next. Any ideas are appreciated.

Gas heads or people unfamiliar with this engine typically go to a fuel delivery issue right off, as that is common on gas engines.

But many other issues can cause this, and with an engine that is highly controlled by both input and output signals, you have to scan for codes and data.

ForScan and an adapter. Google it, or search here.

Great point TooManyToys. I should have mentioned that in my original post - OBD2 scan throws no codes. That would have been too easy of a diagnosis I guess.

This engine has a lot going on to control injection. You need to be able to read live data. Could be an issue with the high pressure oil system, FICM, etc etc. Fuel pressure as well. Get the data and diagnose before loading the parts cannon.

Forscan as Jack mentioned.

Ah ok I have not dealt with Forscan before but I get the point now. I've got one ordered. Thanks TooManyToys and FiveOJester for the input. "Parts cannon" is a great term.
I'll see what the scanner shows once its here.
