Hey guyz i have an FE here of unknown displacement or history...
it has a C6 bolted to it and the starter sounds like a chevy that needs a shim.
Ive heard about different FE starters for manual and auto, different tooth counts on the flexplate, but can't re.ember details. A little help? Also, it has a mini starter cause of the headers. Just to cloud things up a bit. Thanks for any and all replies.

Looked at the related posts at the bottom of this one and found the answer in a powermaster 9506m deep engagement starter. Turns out the aftermarket crankshaft has a thicker flange where thw flexplate sits, putting the ring gear fatther from thw starter, engaging only the ends of the gears. Hopefully this deep engagement starter will take care of that. Overnighting it. Will find out tomorrow.
That's interesting. I didn't know that there were different depths for that. I was thinking that someone might have used a flexplate for a 460 on your FE which has a different tooth pitch.

Yea, if that were true the front pump would probably be locked up.
