So the idea was that I would put a 4 speed behind my 390 and get rid of the auto. The motor is a 75, 390 2bbl in a 75 F250 w auto, its going into a 48 Merc M68 , I'm getting the trans from a FTE forum member in good standing and the trans is either a NP435 or a T19 out of a 73 truck. I go on Kijiji and find 3 bellhousing ads, there's 2 different part #s and the one part # has either a DIF4 or DIF6 version and apparently these 2 are from a 65 390. This is Calgary and very few people are capable of telling the truth here as most of these cowboys are drunks or drug addicts that leech off their wives for a living. My question would be, is there a specific bell housing that I need and what are my options. Didn't count on this being something complicated but knew there could be a car and a truck version of bell housing. Thank you for your response..
I can't really answer your question, but the "C5TA" means "truck" - so if you're looking to put a 435NP in it, and using a truck flywheel, I'm thinking this is your best best. Remember the starter, too.
Others will be along shortly to help out more than I can

TWO different F100/350 FE bell housings:
DOTZ-7505-A (replaced C5TZ-7505-B) .. Bell Housing / Marked with ID number: C5TA-7505-B / Obsolete
These trucks use the same engine mounting system as 1961/64 F100/350 223/262/292.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1973/76 F350 would have a T-19. 1973/76 F100/250 could have a T-18 or New Process 435.
No 390's in F100/350's until 1968. On sale day, 360's magically become 390's! Measure the stroke to verify.
360 = 3.50" / 390 = 3.78"
There is no specific F100/350 flywheel. The flywheel was used in both 1965/71 352/390 cars and 1965/76 352/360/390 trucks.
There are two types. One used with 11" clutch on a 12 3/8" bolt circle (352/360), the other with 11 1/2" clutch on a 12 7/8" bolt circle (390).
The FE starter is the same A/T & M/T 1963/76. 1958/62 FE starter uses the HUGE Bendix inertia starter drive.
Thank you all for the responses, at this point I think I'll expand what I'm shopping for to include the whole truck with a 390 4 speed and not just the bell housing as the 4 that I have found appear to be for cars. I'm presuming the cars have a side shifted transmission as my trucks have always been top loaded transmissions which would explain the different bell housings. Having another truck in the yard would make life easier than trying to look for individual parts and pieces and would wind up giving me a few extra parts. Who doesn't need 4 dentsides
Thanks again for the info as it will make life easier.

The way the transmission was shifted had nothing to do with the bellhousing. In the cars, the FE engines had a 5/8" shallower bellhousing than the small blocks. Any small block transmission will work with a truck FE bell. The big block Toploader 4 speeds had a shorter input shaft (5/8") the shorter part was the portion forward of the splines that fit inside the pilot bushing.
