power window problem

I have a 92 f150 the driver's side power window that's making me crazy, sometimes it works like it's should just not very often. most of the time I have to pull up on it to get it started moving usually gets most of the way up the falls back down a couple inches. after several tries I can get it all the way up
What do I need to replace to make it work? Motor or something else? thanks

There are better instructions in the forum somewhere, but you need window motor inserts: Doorman 74410. You'll need one package (three plugs) per motor..

The summary:
Remove the door panel.
Remove the window motor. You may need to drill a 1/2" hole to get to one of the bolts.
Bend the tabs out of the way, then remove the cover plate on the motor.
Clean out the residue of the old plugs.
Put a little lithium grease in there.
Set all three plugs into position with the gear thing kinda holding them, then press the gear thing into the casing which will also push the plugs into place. It's a tight fit.
Put it all back together.

You can use the "insert" kit to make the repair, but you can also just use 3 plain old nuts. I think 5/16" nuts, but I do not remember for sure.

If you use steel nuts remember the poly ones are made to break if a child gets there head or something stuck in window while being operated

ehh if my kid gets stuck in the window, probably deserves it. At 22, you should know better.

Just a heads up on running the motors with ball bearings or steel nuts and not the OEM design. My 1990 F-250 had this done on the drivers window and I did the passenger window when it acted up. On the back of the regulator there is a stop with a rubber ring or pad around it. Keeps the window from dropping too low. My pads were long rotted and gone. Window went all the way down, nothing from the motor but humming since the regulator locked up. Just installed new regulators made of chineseium today. Pulling out the old regulators I noticed the ends of the big gear were bent pretty good from the lack of the bump stop and the nylon ***** replaced with steel. When it went to full travel it was full torque against the drive gear ends.
