Hahaha I did not think of that. The guy who had the truck before me did some southern engineering on the boot. One side is 3 inch and the other looks to be 3.25 I'm pretty sure it's a intercooler-tube boot and he used the clamp for the 3.25 because I can bottom out the clamp. I'll probably get new boots and clamps soon now that I think about it. Every since I did the ccv mod my tubes and boots stay pretty clean.

Me and this truck I swear 🤬. Ran good all week on my way to lunch yesterday I look down and I'm back at 100 psi. How much fuel should flow out of my return line? I put it in a jug and it didn't look like I was getting much

New development
Am I missing something here. I reinstalled new guide and popet spring I'd seated. I removed the spring to make sure I did not have a restriction in my return line flowed fine. With the spring in I get a trickle of fuel returning. Tried installing my old spring same issue. Im at a loss here. Could it be a bad injector? No oil in gas or gas in oil. No coolant either. Noticed my %delta went up on my #5. Its not as bad.as my number 8 but hovering around 3 or 4 % was normaly between 1 and 2. Starting to take shots in the dark frustration is setting in lol. Gonna hardwire my backup pump and see what I get.

I know this topic is more hotly debated than toilet paper roll over or under, over btw only and always over, but...

That is some strange behavior. Almost like there's a burr in the pressure regulator housing that is catching the poppet or something.

I'm about ready to buy a seperate regulator. Just cap that thing and diy a regulated return. I let it sit over night and the pressure has come down a bit.

I would do a regulated return first. And probably a bowl delete later. I would like an adjustable regulator, and the extra space in the valley. I just don't want to spend close to 1500 at once to do it.

Here's a low cost adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Remove the factory pressure regulator and plumb this one in as the replacement. Comes with gauge and adjustable from 0 to 100 psi.

You may have to remove the fuel bowl and cut some threads down the guts of the pressure regulator inlet to enable you to thread in a fitting or something like that to make it work, but it looks to me that it can be done.

I too couldn't stomach the prices of the kits so I made my own for considerably less money. Even after figuring in the $250 I spent on the 37 degree flaring tool I came in under a grand. I want to say it was around $750 all in but it's been to long for me to be certain. Granted this was all pre covid and prices were much different. That Aeromotive regulator I linked yesterday, I gave $140 for it on Amazon now tey list it for $200.

So after extensive trial and error today I resolved my issue. I bought a few couplings and hexhead caps just to verify my regulator was my issue. I can say my pump is strong at 110 psi my mechanical guage stood up like I fed it viagra. Then I said well **** it and put my old set up in. Unfortunately even with the black spring 45 psi was the best I could do. I found a happy place using my old popet new sleeve and o ring. For some reason the o ring on the sleeve wasn't right. It kept pushing the sleeve back out. I'm guessing the pressure was forcing the popet all the way back letting the sleeve slide back just enough to seal completely. I must of taken it apart 10 times today. But finaly 75 psi fine by my I'll definitely be putting in an adjustable regulator soon. Figure I'll cap that off and build a few lines and just diy up a regulated return. I already have my parts list for a full system I'm looking at about 1000 from back to front but I already the fuel pumps so that's saves a nice penny

Glad ya got it working!

Congrats on taking the FPR apart so many times without breaking that flimsy pos.

I'd suggest an FRx for the sake of simplicity.

I thought about the frx at one point but as my ultimate goal is a bowl delete it would be a waste. For not much more than the frx I could get the aeromotive regulator, 3 hoses and an assortment of fittings. I'm not in any hurry. I want everything on the truck functioning properly before I add anymore power. The old girl creeps closer to 600k everyday. Next step is cleaning up my hpop system it functions okay but I think it's starting to get a little beat. Holds 2200 at wot and has a few small leaks. But for now I feel safe driving again.

I just stumbled across this kit and didn't think the price was too far out of line. I don't have any experience with the FuelLab regulators but I'd assume they're good enough. By the look of it 5 bills gets you about 75-80% of the way there.
