I don’t know how much of a power increase the headers make on a mostly stock motor, But I do like the sound of headers over manifolds. More so with true dual exhaust. I ran the y pipe setup for a bit than swapped to true duals.
until you screw something up. I will look into it though
There are threads about it. If not here than elsewhere. There's always a new casting ported top end kit from Parkland Performance Auto Machine. $3100+shipping from Tacoma, WA. They claim 360HP and 500+TQ at the wheels with headers and free flowing exhaust.

that’s a lot, probably half of what the truck is worth right now
Those knock-off headers claim 10-15hp and Banks claims 68HP from a dyno. There is no way those headers are as high quality. The stainless steel to make them would cost more than $269. Does a magnet stick to them?
Banks flange is 1/4" thicker and they will never warp.
imo any header will provide a gain over manifolds. They seem to be alot better quality than what headman or hooker put out. The flanges are plenty thick, not worried about them warping at all. I honestly do not know if a magnet sticks to them. Never tried it. Banks also are a different design than these cheaper ones, so that could be the higher claims in gains. Personally in my situation, I was not going to spend the $$$ amount for the Banks vs the cheapest ones I could find. I just wanted headers that didnt hang down below the frame.
heres the only pic I have of them atm. When I ditched the y pipe I modded the collectors, welded the flanges to them to use regular collector gaskets.
I'm thinking of installing Banks headers and exhaust system for my 97 460. I spoken to them on the phone and did a lot of research as well as got good advice from the previous owner. It's going to cost right around $1500. Will this system improve my mpg significantly? Right now, I'm getting 13.8mpg. As I mentioned in another post, one of the PO's had taken out the catalytic converter and then installed 2.5" exhaust pipe. I would like to go with 4". So is this going to help to make the cost not seem so steep? Thanks!
Here is a write-up i did on my rebuild. Banks is hugh quality, and will give you a tiny bit more mpg. But, not much. Power was improved, and has a nice "burbly" sound to the exhaust.

Banks flange is 1/4" thicker and they will never warp. They were easy to install when the inner fenders are out of the way. I've checked the header bolts twice since install over 40k miles ago and none have loosened. If you've got the money buy the Banks.
I'm installing a set of Banks headers on my 96 460 right now. Did you use any lockwashers or loctite on the header bolts? Their instructions just say to use a dab of anti-seize on the bolts. I was constantly having to tighten up the stock manifold bolts, and I don't want to have to do that with the headers.

Since I've had mine on, I will check the bolts monthly. I did not use lock washers, and have had no issues with the bolts loosening up.
