Getting ready to put header on my truck. I'd like some input on what I should consider.
I want to put long tubes, with dual all the way out the back with an X-pipe.
What's the good brand, material, etc.
There's not a lot of options that I've found. Banks is highly regarded but quite expensive. Thorley is up there in quality but also rather expensive, and they only make them for an automatic. L&L looks like a decent cheaper alternative, but they don't sell them with a y-pipe.
Banks is stainless. Thorley is ceramic coated.
L&L is painted.
Basically you get what you pay for. Please share what you wind up buying and why. I personally got a steal on some used Thorleys only to find out they wouldn't work with a manual due to the slave cylinder. I think I'll wind up with a set of Banks; just waiting for my drunk self to bite the bullet and order them. He loves to spend my money.
Put some banks on mine a couple months ago. Love em. As already stated they're pricey, but worth if you can afford them. Don't have to worry about them not fitting right.
Should probably plan on what you want to do with the EGR. You can try to reuse the old one, but it would seem that in the majority of cases it isn't salvageable. So probably best to either consider deleting it, or ordering a new one.
I did a write up of my install if you're interested.

I did the banks complete kit. Headers into a 3" exhaust. It has the provisions for the egr. I did however delete the a.i.r. system. I did a writeup on it as well.
I have no experience with duals. But, on my 460 I did add a magna flow catalytic converter. I have a nice smooth rumble. And plenty of power. You can buy just the banks headers, and fab your exhaust from there as well. They were an absolute perfect fit. Instructions were great, and tech support was great
