Long ago I purchased a very expensive but very well crafted Bank Power Pack exhaust system for a '92 I used to own. I now own a '96 One-ton crew cab with stocker exhaust. Those Banks headers were awesome, 5/8" flanges and all stainless steel, but to purchase them out right I think they were almost $900. Does any one know of a comparable exhaust kit or something I could piece together for a 460 that would be cheaper and just as or almost as good?
I have the Banks kit on my 97 HD with the 460. The only other headers I would put on my truck would be the Doug Thorley Tri-Y's. But nothing is going to be as good as the banks. Oh, and I paid $1,300 for mine.
I am seriously looking at getting some Gibson headers for the 460. I have had the Banks Power Pack on my old '92 F250 w/ the 460. I was impressed by the header quality. I was disappointed with the muffler they use and them just throwing in an K&N OE filter replacement with a less turbulent Air Filter Box cover. It was nice that everything was stainless and mandrel bent.
But.............
I am trying to save some money this go round. I can get the Gibson headers for around $400 dollars. The problems witht the Gibson headers is they are "Automatic Only" for fit and I have a manual trans. I called there tech support people and he is 99% sure it would fit with a manual trans if I make a custom Y-pipe.
My reservation to the Banks is........
1. Cost
2. I already have a FIPK kit
3. I prefer Magnaflow Mufflers
The cheapest Power Pack kit I have found is around $1500 shipped to my house.
I figure I could use the Gibson headers and have a custom exhaust system made out the door for around $1000.
Luckily my truck is a Mass-Air setup so these kinds of mods will actually be upgrades and increase performance where Speed Density generally gets confused.
