Some of the clusters have gone blank on customers, so they recalled a certain run of them.

Issue Date
2023-07-21
Description
On your vehicle, the instrument panel cluster ipc screen may be blank. You may not have access to driver information communicated through the ipc display, including vehicle speed, transmission shift position, warnings, and telltales.
Safety Risk
Failure to illuminate the instrument panel cluster renders safety related telltales and gauges unreadable, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to either replace the ipc or the instrument panel cluster module.
Next Steps
Contact your local dealer and schedule a maintenance appointment. To find your local dealer, use the "find a dealer" feature below.
No software update to fix this issue so far. It's getting really annoying to not have a basic temperature and compass display in the gauge cluster. Anyone have an update on this?

my 2022 has the compass and I've never cared to see it. My temperature is on my center screen. You will live I promise. Look for the sun and understand it rises in the east and sets in the west in the south sky everywhere in America.

Even after the recall work, there is only the compass and no temp in the cluster. I've got temp in the HUD and the Sync 4 screen. The compass in the cluster seems tiny too.
While I appreciate you taking the opportunity to wax poetic on your zen philosophies, I am more looking for input on the specific issue here, not life advice. Thanks!

Good luck getting Ford to go back and add a compass for both people who own a 2023 and miss it. Soubds like a diminishing return. In the mean time you can purchase a newer truck for more money or an older used truck and get the compass. Options are out there.
You could always switch brands if the compass is that big of a deal.
lack of temperature display in IPC I think is more of a threat to safety (imo). If you use CarPlay, there is no temp display on center screen. Kind of important to know if the roads you are driving on are about to freeze, or are below temperature for chemical treatments to work ect. I installed an idash to display this. It's frustrating with all this screen real estate to not have this information always displayed, or configurable.

Call it what you want. Is there a difference driving in rain at 34° vs 25°? Would ne nice to know.
If apple put a temperature display in CarPlay, that would work, but optimum solution would be vehicle outside air temperature on the display. The truck already knows it.

My phone has a weather widget on the home screen. I can see if it is going to be below freezing ahead of time and I can see if it is hovering around freezing currently. You are creating a problem that doesn't exist.
