Driving down the interstate at 65 mph. Lost the transmission. I have reverse, but nothing else. When you put it in gear (1st, 2nd, or Drive) it won’t move. Just neutral. Half heartedly tries to move at about 2K on the tack. Defiantly slipping. Need to know what the most likely culprit is…. Transmission? Converter? Transfer case?
not leaking any fluid… not locked up, driveshafts are good. Just lost it out of nowhere. There were no clicks, no clunks, no smoke, no warning.
Not a transmission expert, or non expert, I believe they have some sort of magic in them...
But I don't think it's your converter, or transfer case...
Im pretty sure it’s transmission. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but… wondering if it could possibly be a valve body, or solenoid pack, filter issue possibly. Just playing devils advocate cuz I’m stuck on the side of the road, waiting on the tow rig to show up.
It isn't the converter, the transfer case, the solenoids, or a diode. None of them can allow reverse to work but not forward. The trans has had an internal failure and needs to come out and be rebuilt or replaced.
Running codes is fun, but in this case, it would be a waste of time. Something mechanical broke inside the transmission.
