I was of the opinion that if I ran FoMoCo or Motorcraft brand parts, I could not do better..... but lately I've heard their quality has gone down hill.
Where/what brand can a fella feel confident about when purchasing new points, condensers, dizzy caps, sparkplug wires?
STANDARD was a good brand, but they also have had some poor reports.....

That is still the best in most cases...... Standard as far as ignition points/condenser goes stick with their BlueStreak line. As far as alternators, Delco Remy or go to an auto-electric shop have them rebuild yours or get a kit and rebuild it yourself.
I'm not sure what you mean by Pertronix "needs an additional coil". It needs only 1 coil.
The MSD 8383 had issues with the controller. I don't know if that has been addressed, yet. The pro billet is the more reliable unit but it requires an external box.
Pertronix now produce an all new distributor for Y Blocks, pn D135700.
I would go with Pertronix because the price is much better and the electronics should be equal quality to their conversion kits, which most people are familiar with and seem to be mostly trouble free.
