Hi all I purchased a new (remanufactured) distributor from napa auto parts and it came with a single wire coming out of the side whereas my old one had 4 wires wth a connector on the end so I pulled the other end of the plug off of my coil which is where it led and was connected to + and - side. I initial assumed the wire on the new distributor was a ground but now I seen to be getting no spark... could this wire not be a ground? P.S. All spark plugs, ignition coil, distributor, cap, and rotor are brand new. And truck was running and driving before the distributor took a ****.
Distributor grounds through the engine block. The condenser is wired in parallel with the points, one end of the points connects to the (-) NEG terminal of the coil.

Sounds like the previous owner did a DURASPARK upgrade and they gave you an older points style dist.
