Power steering pump?

Power steering pump?
I have a 99 7.3. Noticed a chirp in the belt and mushy brake pedal. Changed the belt and it’s still the same. There’s about 1/8in play in the power steering pulley from side to side. I’m wondering if that’s my problem? If so do I replace the pulley or the whole pump and pulley?

Based on your description, I would be replacing the pump. Take a look at the links below from the Tech Folder and see where your comfort level is and choose a course of action.

Here's my recommendation. It's not an easy upgrade, but it does get the job done quite nicely. Can't stress enough though that it is not a Sat. afternoon bolt up job.
