If its not one thing its another with this old girl.
I was driving today and heard a noise, battery light came on and I lost power steering. The serpentine belt shredded itself and took the the power steering pump pulley with it.
Now, when I go to Autozone, Napa, Oreily or Advanced do they sell the pump with the pulley or do have have to buy them separate? And, how much of a pain in the *** is it to change it.
They will be sold seperatly from one another. You can buy a pulley puller kit, that's the best way to get the pulley off. But if yours is damaged it could be a bear to take off.
The puller is also needed to reinstall the pulley onto the pump.
Ok, looking around google images I might be a complete moron. It the bottom pulley that would be on the left side of this picture
Which would make it the AC compressor pulley, in which case I could just buy one of those by-pass pulleys correct? Would that pulley breaking off cause the belt to become so loose on the power steering pump that I would lose power steering?

Absolutely. If the belt isn't correctly around all of the pulleys it won't drive any of them. You'll lose power steering, the alternator, AC, the water pump, and the fan all at once. You'll notice the P/S the quickest, but it's the least of your worries if you try to keep going!

Power steering pulley is on the right side (drivers side) at the bottom. The A/C is above it. The pulley on the lower left side of the pic you posted (below alternator) is your smog pump.
If you are refering to replacing the smog pump, you'll have to just buy a new one. You may have to go thru the Ford dealership or someone like LMC to get one, I'm not sure if the auto parts stores sell them or not. You'll just have to check. It's fairly simple to replace because it just bolts on like the alternator does. Just make sure you remember how your hoses attach to it.
There seems to be some confusion with left and right... the ac compressor is visible on the right side of the picture. That would make it on the left (drivers ) side of the truck.
If you open the hood of the truck there should be a sticker on the core support that shows the routing of the belt and it will tell you which pulley drives what. That would be the easiest way to tell.
