I went with USA made "NOS HAMMERLOK 1/2" MECHANICAL COUPLING LINK WITH STUD ASSEMBLY - YELLOW". I don't trust the metal in the off-shored hammerloks or can't confirm COO.

I went nuts and grabbed (2 each) 3/8”, 1/2”, and 5/8”
Crosby lok-a-loy

No more fiddle farting around with the dang hooks. I now own the trailers I need, but for a while their I was renting and the stupid design of the hook eye was frustrating the heck out of me. Some hooks would go straight on, and some most definitely would not. I don’t have to worry about it now. Anything I would need to tow will fit served by my plethora of hammerlocks.

1/2” is the size you’ll most likely use most.

I also went with the "Hammerlock" solution - 1/2" Grade 80 Alloy Coupler 12K WLL from AutoHauler Supply. Used a portable vise to press them on - took all of 5 minutes. They even include this sentence in their description of the product - "This is a popular product for people trying to find a way to get their safety chain hooks to fit the new F-250 hitch"

I shake my head when I see all the junk people buy to hang on their hitched instead of using a real hook on the trailer end like a couple posts above. Hell of a lot cheaper too and takes maybe 5 min to swap them out. There is nothing wrong with the hitch on these trucks at all.

Well, think what you will, but all the trailers I pull don't belong to me, not my prerogative to change the hooks on the safety chains. So before I put a couple of shackles on my hitch, many times the chain hooks would not latch onto the receiver holes correctly, now there is no issue.

Sad stubborn way to think !
You pull a trailer, anyones trailer and ultimately you are the one responsible for doing "it" safely, nobody else !

How is my way of thinking sad or stubborn???
I fixed my chain connection issue with the shackles, which are quite a bit stronger than the chains on the trailers, as safe as it can be.

IIRC their breaking strength is around 11,000 pounds each. Been to Bradford ... lived in Lock Haven back in 1959.
