my truck doesnt do burnout at take off it just goes must be the way i hit the gas
Mine, too. Come to think of it, I don't use more than 1/3 of the pedal travel. That gets me moving plenty quick enough. Engine is still breaking in, so I won't be doing any tire smokin' any time soon.
Two ol boys at school one day in the parking lot were trying to see who could do the better burn out, one a hopped up Cummings the other a tuned up Duramax....they bought cryied when I fired up the ol 460 (ext cab long bed 4x4) and turned it side ways on my way out. It caught traction shifting into 3rd (bout 72 mph) smoke rolling off tires and strait pipped big block screamin

Hahaha! I had to laugh when I read this. Gotta love it when an old Ford puts the smackdown on them newer trucks.

I used to love it when my dad would let me take his truck out (85 F250 460 MT) on a summer night.
It was big, black, shiny, bone stock, and pretty quick. I don't remember how many smart alecks in Daddy's BMW, or their chromed-out, driving downhill chevelles, got left in the dust at the stop lights.
The biggest trouble I had with the drag racing was remembering to leave it in 3rd gear, so I wouldn't spin the tires when the light changed.
Man this is a subject i particularly love! hahahah
Im sure youre all very familiar with the satisfaction of beating out newer and bigger trucks hahaha, in fact, just yesterday, i was at a light right next to a brand new chebby 2500 with all the works, shinny rims, deluxe package....i was a quarter mile down the road by the time he reached 15mph hahahah
I want to get an official speed count, but my personal count is 0-60 in 5 seconds. Alot of people dont expect that from an old f150 hahahaha and im not even flooring it...Oh and for the record, Dodge Challengers (or whatever those new ones are called) are the most pathetic sports cars ever...rev your engines all ya want, youre still toast
But this also brings up an interesting question, i havent really been able to do a proper burnout with my baby, which i see some of you guys have encountered as well. Those of you who successfully burnout, what are the exact mechanics youre doing? I might just be doing it wrong :P hahahh

If you like replacing tires, and brakes, sooner than you need to, you can employ the 'power-brake' method. All you have to do is apply enough pressure on the brakes while you hold your foot in the gas, and the rear tire(s) should start producing a lot of smoke. (Most hot rodders consider this cheating. It only works with automatic transmissions, unless you have a third appendage that you can apply some pressure to the brakes while you rev up, and dump your clutch.)
The only other way I know to do this is to have an engine that produces gobs of low-end torque, and will break the tires loose before the vehicle can gain any real forward momentum.
I personally like having a machine that wants to go forward first, rather than burn up tires, but, it's all fun!
for the redneck truck, if you going to put a gun rack in the rear window remember to put tennis ***** between the window and racks to keep the vibration down.
you must at all time have an assorted 30-pack of empty beer cans (bud light, busch light, and natty lite) rolling around in the bed of your truck.
and a must for all hick trucks... a set of Nuts hanging off the back of the truck
The nutz are a recent development that were undeard of whe I first started this tread!
Another funny thing about this thread is I long LONG since sold that ford... bough it back with blown motor, fixed it, drove the **** out of it, blew the new motor, sold it, and it went to the east coast for years. A friend out east saw it on craigslist, so I bought it back again!! Drove if from virginina to wyoming at 80mph getting 14 to 16mpg! Drove the **** out of all winter two winters ago then sold it BACK to teh first guy I sold it to the first time I sold it!!!
Goes to show you... A good FORD never dies.. Its just passed around to people it feels deserving!
