I thought Warren was only doing local trans work. From Corey at CNCFab you can get Sam Wyse. Or take a chance on a lower mileage '05-'10 from salvage. The '6+ will need a converter change from my understanding, as well if you get the trans out of a gas motor, V10 recommended I believe.
It seems lately Ford reman trans are going the way of Ford reman diesel.
I will be putting in a new Ford brand cooler and possibly changing the radiator to avoid contamination from the radiator, remaining lines will get flushed best I can without access to a flush machine. Open to any suggestions/advice on sanitation procedures.
TMT, I read that as well about Warren, but they confirmed to me today that they are doing them in house currently, at least the stock+ 5r110w I inquired about. I looked at CNCFab's site and they have a header stating Sam's transmissions are 'at least 12 weeks' out, price jumped a good bit from where it used to be on them as well. I can wait maybe 3 weeks, but not much longer...rental cars be expensive these days
I've had decent luck with salvage yard transmissions. I think I paid $900 for mine. That is a hell of a lot better than what some guys want for a built transmission.
Update: The Warren stock+ is in, finished today. Runs fine. The re-learn (shift flares) was a bit un-nerving even though I knew to expect it, first test drive is always worrisome after a big project. Took about 4-5 part throttle runs shifting from 1st-4th for it to start smoothing out, which it did each time. Still need to drive it some more. Changed the rear main seal (new style) as well, the $75 copy-cat tool on Amazon worked well and was constructed well, saved me from spending $200+ on the one from Freedom Racing that it copies. Hopefully this transmission holds up over the long run. Thanks for the tips everyone, they sure did help!
