On the road and my tow haul darts flashing and shifting weird. Codes are P0528,P0730,and P2703. About 900 miles from the house at the start of my trip. Any help appreciated.
P0730 means the gear ratio was not what the TCM expected. It is a very generic code because it doesn't say WHICH ratio was wrong. This may take someone with a scan tool that has Mode 6 capability to monitor data and see what the trans is doing.
P2703 means Transmission Friction Element "D" Apply Time Range Performance. I think that's the direct clutch, but I don't remember for sure. That means the Clutch "D" didn't apply in the amount of time it should take when it is commanded to apply.
Both of these codes are very generic. The computer hasn't seen the problem enough to be able to narrow the problem down. It is probably worth the effort to clear the codes and see if they come back or if more specific codes appear.
P0528 is a problem with the cooling fan speed sensor.
Thanks, I stopped at Ford and they said it looks like I need a solenoid replaced. It is shifting normal and they said I should be fine to make it back to TX. Just stop driving it if slipping occurs.
Codes will not clear or they reoccur instantly, no more flashing tow haul since the one episode.
