So I just bought a 1999 f250 superduty 7.3L powerstroke and I was just wondering if I got a good deal for what I payed?
So I payed $4000 for it and that happened was the guy was changing injectors and glow plugs in the passenger bank and the 7th cylinder glow plug tip had swelled and while he was taking it out the tip snapped off so he drove it into the cylinder and so he took out the 7th injector to try fish it out but before he got it out he got badly injured working on another truck and so I bought it from him for $4000
but more about the truck while he was working on it he just put in a new upgraded Is torque converter a new upgraded shift kit a new 4" exhaust a edge 6 position revolver tuner chip and a gtp38r with a new wicked wheel
Extra parts that he had were a extra turbo pedestal a extra gtp38r with a wicked wheel the stock gtp38 and a brand new full set of injectors
Just thought I'd ask your guys opinion on it but u think that I got a pretty good deal
How are we supposed to know if we didn't inspect its condition? If it runs and looks like new and has low miles, you got a deal. If the transmission shifts like garbage next week and the frame is rotted, you got ripped off.
He removed the injector and the cup? I'd imagine you'd need both out to get that plug tip out of the chamber. Only way to know if its a deal is to drive it. If it goes then good, if it skips and is hot garbage then your in for a fun filled ride straightening it out. Why would someone have all those parts and let it all go for 4k? Sell the loose parts off and make more $. He's got alot of BS there so it would seem from here he rode that thing HARD so who knows what kind of PM he gave it.
Has this truck been started with the tip of the glow plug still in the chamber? If so you may have been screwed, because that glow plug tip could have done a LOT of damage in that cylinder, even if it isn't firing. Not to mention it's literally dumping oil and fuel into that cylinder if the injector isn't in there (and it's dumping fuel even if it is in there). As noted above with those kinds of mods it may have been ridden hard and put away wet, so it may not be in very good shape.
If the truck has NOT been started and you have the technical know-how to get that glow plug tip out of there and finish the repairs, and after repairs are finished it runs good and the frame/body are good, then you may have gotten a good deal on it. If this is the case, I'd sell the extra parts for some $$ and drive it.

No it hasn't been cranked over since the tip fell in. The frame is in good condition overall. Thank you guys for your feedback I guss I'll let you know how fixing it goes.
It sounds like it might be a great deal, if you can do the work yourself, all the better! If you need to drop it off at a dealer, that could be a problem. The new injectors could be worth almost half of the price…Some pics would help…mileage?

It has 200,000 miles and yes I will be doing the work myself I have a fair bit of knowledge and experience and I'm taking it to my buddies specialty diesel mechanic shop to work on it

That's good news, and since you've said you're doing it yourself in a shop that should have most/all of the tools you'll need you should be okay. Good luck, here's hoping it runs good when you get finished!
