my 3 cents? Have the kid or his father buy a new bumper, and you swap it out.
Then sell the old bumper to someone (like me) who has an XL truck and wants the fog light bumper... I am in NY and my plate bracket would cover up those dings nicely... :P
I agree........That would be a great way to handle it if you were buddies of the offender or family. Them buy the bumper and any needed hardware and the owner and offender do the labor. My daughter got into several fender benders before she was 20. I called them, went over, apologized, and offered to pay, then payed, no attitude. I know one pocketed the money and never fixed the dent, but that's none of my business. I paid for diminishing the value, his decision what to do with the money. One of them, the lady in front went like she was going merging onto a one laner then slammed on her brakes with no one coming, my daughter was doing a quick double checker to left and looked straight and the woman had stopped for no reason. That was a hard one to pay for w/o saying anything. It was however a rear ender and unarguable. The husband when I came over showed me 3 estimates (which was impressive).
That's how I would handle it. If they hem and haw though don't say a word. I'd file a report and skip the doing them a favor part.
well I really appreciate all of the input. Here’s a picture in better light …. Yeah… you’d notice it.
i’m gonna have it fixed…. I’ve waited for this truck way too long to have this after two months of taking delivery. I guess that’s another way to look at it - I doubt any of us would take delivery of a new truck with that dent in the bumper. - just shrug it off as no biggie and tell the dealer or not to worry about it.
Hell no, you are not being a jerk asking him to take responsibility for his mishap. While it may have been unintentional, there is no way I would look the other way on a 2 month old truck. For those that say it's just a truck, they aren't paying for your truck, you are!!! Not everyone can afford one of these things and when you can, last thing I'd want is for it to be damaged, by anyone!
OP hasn't said how old this "kid" is, or whether he was old enough or supposed to be driving at all when this happened.
I would definitely have it fixed, and expect the insurance on the other vehicle to pay for it or the kid or his family to pay for it, that is only right.
…seventeen year old, driving his own truck, was in a hurry and not paying attention obviously…. To not notice the giant F450 behind him……

You never said how you were handling it, just that you were going to get it fixed. What happened?
I’m up at deer camp, I passed my i pad a round to my dad and brother. My dad couldn’t see anything wrong until I pointed out the dent. My saw and said it wasn’t worth fixing. .
We’re all truck guys, actually use the 4wd. I bought my truck to get into the back woods , not for a showpiece.
