I’m annoyed as hell at ford too. It absolute crap that they claim to offer a feature that doesn’t exist. There are other sources that offer reliable trailer towing routes. If ford claims they will offer that, we should be able to reasonably expect it to be as good as anything else out there. After spending some time with my navigation however, I see that that is really a dumb idea on anyone’s part. just a couple days ago I was on a major highway and my navigation show me driving through a neighborhood. If my iPad loaded as slow as this thing does I would’ve threw in the garbage long time ago.
Over promising and under delivering is a quick way to loose customers. I’ll be looking elsewhere for my next truck.

QUOTE=Ltngdrvr;20775562]I am subscribing to the Ford navigation simply for the fact that I don't like having the nav screen without it functioning.
What I am wondering about all you guys that are so desperate to have the trailer towing option is, do you all really think it is going to be that good???
The nav, as it stands in my truck, is the most basic nav system, hardly any features compared to any dash top aftermarket nav device.
It really sucks, no ability to save routes, no ability to get alternate routing, no alternate routing for traffic delays, and what traffic delay messages you do get have ZERO info, no 3D mapping that shows terrain or buildings(even though they claim that feature), all things that even the most basic aftermarket nav devices have.

So, I can't imagine that if and when they get trailer towing routing added to the Ford nav system, that it will be very good.[/QUOTE]

My thoughts exactly. I want the functionality for using the navigation system around town and when not towing my RV. After this roll-out fiasco, I will have a hard time trusting the Ford trailer towing option. I’ll be staying with the Garmin when towing the 5th wheel - probably running the two side-by-side until I see how well it works.

If you are going to jump ship just because there isn't trailer towing navigation is kinda drastic. I make it by in an XLT with a $500 Garmin RV nav system that works great. I bet it is better than whatever Ford can come up with anyways. Why pay $80/month in perpetuity just so you can have the navigation the center screen when you can have the license and get free updates with a better service and just attach a suction cup to the windshield?

This problem is just the cherry on top. overall the truck is fine. I’m disgusted by the lies, lackluster technology, and the idea that after paying almost 90K for a truck that I have to buy a stick on GPS so I have something reliable. Those were cool 20 years ago, not at all now.
my disgust in this is that I also have a 22 f150 with copilot 360 2.0 and it’s been absolute garbage. I have a whole list of electronic problems with that. I’ve mostly owned fords and have been happy. Lately I’m really unimpressed. I REALLY regret that F150. I’ll likely take the loss and dump it. Sorry for getting off topic.

Well, you seem to have a lot of money and just want everything done for you.

I spent $30k less on a truck and then saved less than 1 year of Ford's subscription fee for a GPS system that works better than anything Ford would come up with.

Your problem is that you want something that doesn't exist so bad that you are getting angry about it. Buy the Garmin and be happy you have an RV GPS that doesn't cost you almost $100/month or get frustrated and sell it all.

I am getting by just fine with all the money I saved.

🤔 You’re definitely a smarter shopper than me.

I’m the idiot that spent a bunch on a Superduty and expected it to do what Ford says it can do. That’s the part that pisses me off. (And, from what I understand, the F150 can do. I’ve never tried it and my 150 is about 1600 miles away right now, to that’s TBD)

Even worse for his argument. Willing to jump ship over an $80/year subscription.

I cant help but think back to the pioneers who traversed this country with just a Rand McNall. I guess some people just can't hack it without massaging seats and built in trailer GPS. Probably the same people who can't own a gas truck just because fueling with a trailer is difficult for them.

yeah I missed that in his comment. I just renewed mine a couple weeks ago. 84.40 after tax.
Since my last post I also found that through CarPlay I can use the RV life app which provides up to date maps and a safe route based on the tow trailer size (the things Ford claimed it could do).
now I don’t have to have a 90’s looking contraption stuck to my windshield. (Not that that was going to happen. Pretty sure a smart phone can do anything a Garmin can)

RV Life works with CarPlay now and is displayed on the Sync 4 screen?

I don't care for using android auto, it takes over too much, limits too much what you can do, too intrusive too many nanny's, aggravatingly difficult to turn it off when I don't want it.
I don't know if carplay is that way too or not.
I'm really considering the NAVIKS interface unit and a usb-c to HDMI connector to mirror my phone screen without any limits as to what will play.
Then can run full screen google maps, or any other map software from my phone.
Plus it allows extra cameras, even left and right ones that turn on with the turn signals.
And, I believe it unlocks cameras in motion and nav input.
It's kind of pricey at $550 though, https://naviks.com/i-24077343-2022-2...tegory:1136681

I doubt anyone else read that and was under the impression that the complaint was over a subscription cost. I thought I was clear but apparently not for you.

I certainly enjoy my massaging seats and the gas motors don’t hold a candle to the diesels towing. But everyone should get what works for them. It isn’t a contest.
I missed your initial comment about me having a lot of money. I do ok but I work my *** off. The cost of the truck is gross. I made the mistake of buying a loaded truck a few years back. Crazy how you start to like the things you really don’t need. I don’t tend to keep them very long so the initial extra cost is usually worth it when I get rid of the truck.

Thanks - good to know. I have a subscription to RV life and use it for RV travel planning but have not tried the Apple App. I’ll give it a try with CarPlay. That would sure simply things.

I'd love to hear your feedback after you try it. The last time I checked (some time ago) it wasn't ready for CarPlay yet.
