Made a motion alarm for my daughter's car. Mounted to underbody by cat.. Switch it on when parked if it sees movement it sets the cars horn off. Resets after a set time.
Thanks so much, I remember that thread but I think I stopped following it when the memes started. Crazy that they haven't updated their website, someone could make a mint on these for the 6.2. Was a good crew last night because when we called Penske early morning for rentals the phone was blowing up as people realized they had been hit.
I ordered one today and will post back after install.
Have you done an oil change yet? Was getting the oil filter off a mess? Sounds like the drain plugs will take care of the oil pan.
I've got a 7.3 also and thinking of getting one too.

No, I haven't, and my next oil change probably won't be until April (I average only 300 miles/month). The link below will take you to a photo of the oil filter and cat-cover, and there's more discussion of oil changes with the cover in that thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post20373869
I plan to use the widest low-profile plastic tray I can fit in there, and line it with a plastic bag so I can drop the filter (and it's oil) into the bag. My hope is to remove the filter and its oil in the bag with zero mess. My bigger concern is using a deflector of some sort when I remove the drain plug ... when the oil initially comes gushing out sideways. I have a Fumoto drain valve I'll install for subsequent oil changes.
Thanks for the reply.
I think the Fomoto drain valve may be a requirement. I guess after the first filter change something will become evident. Gallon anti freeze jugs can be cut for custom height. Also thinking a nail hole to drain the filter but it seems like in my two oil changes there was a surge of oil from above that came after I thought it was pretty well drained. Might be hard to get a nail and a hammer in there though.
Did you install the plate yourself?
A YouTube search recommends using heat-resistant paint and spray 'em bright yellow or orange and etch your VIN onto the cat. Crooks will not bother 'em because they'd have to remove all the paint. And if they're successful and spend the time doing that, there's the VIN which may also raise eyebrows at the recycling yards. Me? I like the idea of a well-ventilated sheet metal or expanded metal panel which would be time-consuming to remove.
Whatever you do, do not weld to the frame rails.
I have my doubts. If I were trying to steal it, I am not going to look it over good. I'm going to cut it and then sort it out when I am out of that area. If you have 4 truck parked in the same spot, definitely a tempting target. Come at about midnight with a reciprocating saw, cut the 4 of them off while my lookout is doing his job and run like hell after that. If I cut your cat, I'd just toss it away when I got home. You can minimize the risk by not living in a bad area but you can't eliminate the risk altogether. Yes, my truck has been broken into a couple times over the last 30 years but so what? That is the cost of doing business, as they say. Let the insurance worry about it. I tracked down one of them and brought him to court. What did I get? A lot of my time wasted. I still had to fill out the insurance report and pay my deductible and that was that. Not going to waste my time and money preventing it. If it is that bad, it is time to move to greener pastures, as they say.
Thanks for the reply.

I don't think there's a real need to punch the filter, especially since it's now a bit difficult to reach. I plan to loosen the filter and unspin it enough for the oil to drain from the top. The pan (lined with a plastic bag) should catch it all along with the filter itself. If you can't insert the owner-modified plastic pan (I like the gallon jug idea) through the square opening, you should be able to slide it in from the front.
And speaking of the square opening, my plan is to not drop the access plate, but rather remove the 4 small bolts (3mm Allen head) and move the plate WITH its mounting flange towards the driver side. Doing that will create a larger opening and move all those sharp riv-nut edges away from the opening while maneuvering the plastic bag out of the access opening.
Yes, I installed mine and it was very challenging to reach and tighten all the bolts. I was one of the original 5 or 6 buyers who got the prototype units and provided feedback to Talon's Garage for production pieces. I did have to modify the left-rear upright plate on mine to make it fit, and informed Talon of the issue I encountered.
Here's a couple photos of the parts, and I did not have the corner plates situated in their correct location in the first photo.
Mine is coming this week, I appreciate the info. Anyone know the part # for the 17' 6.2l Fumoto? I am not too concerned if I make a mess changing the oil as my truck is fluid filmed already, but those valves look like a home run as far as ease of draining.

With an exposed aggregate driveway, my wife will have my hide if I let one drop of oil land on it.
