The past couple of weeks, I've been watching multiple dealers' websites near me to see what F350 and F450s they still have coming in. But one thing I'm not seeing much of is the Fifth Wheel Prep package listed on the window stickers of many incoming trucks.
Is there a reason for this? Is Ford out of that supply? Are they saving them for the 2023s? I obviously don't keep up with this stuff like many of you here on the forums do.
I'm wondering if there's something I just don't know about. No matter how close the truck is to what I want, if it doesn't have the puck system, I don't want it.
Isn't the 5th wheel prep a standard item with the 450? Maybe it's just not listed. On the 350, because of possible delays do to parts constraints (5th wheel prep being one), I could see dealers leaving it off an order.

That was something I wondered. I hope it's the case but not sure.
Back around April I think Ford had dealers calling customers with orders that removing the 5th wheel prep would shorten delivery time. I took them up on that offer with the F-350 SRW I had on order. 7 months later I still don’t have the truck. 😂. Supposedly it’s being built in next week
So trucks showing up in lots now were possibly in that time frame where prep kits were removed from the orders.
As others have stated, F-460s come standard with 5th wheel prep. The 450 I ordered 3 months after the 350 I ordered without prep kit is being built before the 350. So removing the prep kit from the order did not expedite the build.

Yes 5th wheel prep is standard on a 450. Any standard item removed would be listed on the window sticker with a credit for that item. My 450 that’s being built this week has a line item listing a $50 credit for “advanced security pack removal”. So it looks like they didn’t install the tilt and interior motion detectors for the security system. If the 5th wheel prep kit was not installed it would be listed with a credit since it’s a standard item.
EDIT:
According to the 2022 order guide the Advanced Security Pack includes Inclination/Intrusion sensors standard on all trims other than base XL without Power Equipment Group.
