I have a 6.2L gas F350. Anyone know of a commercially available anti theft product for the catalytic converter?
A google search brings up quite a few different types. Here in Southern Nevada CAT thefts are rampant. It seems the Prius is a prime target because they have 2 of them. I think it will come down to your price point and ease of install vs amount of security.
A YouTube search recommends using heat-resistant paint and spray 'em bright yellow or orange and etch your VIN onto the cat. Crooks will not bother 'em because they'd have to remove all the paint. And if they're successful and spend the time doing that, there's the VIN which may also raise eyebrows at the recycling yards. Me? I like the idea of a well-ventilated sheet metal or expanded metal panel which would be time-consuming to remove.
Personally if I could I would try to electrically isolate the CAT and then run a huge honking wire from the battery (or better, an Arc welder in the bed) so that when they put the sawzall blade to metal it would fry their *** to the ground, but that is just me. I hate thieves, stealing from people who work hard for their stuff. I guess in a larger city the POlice may frown on that, but in rural America they may just help you drag the body from under your truck.

unfortunately in this country, criminals are coddled and given 3,877 chances so it is you who would be prosecuted and jailed and the impoverished guy just trying to “feed his family” would be given a stern warning and released.
my method to this problem is to live in a quality area free from dirtballs.
Thanks so much, I remember that thread but I think I stopped following it when the memes started. Crazy that they haven't updated their website, someone could make a mint on these for the 6.2. Was a good crew last night because when we called Penske early morning for rentals the phone was blowing up as people realized they had been hit.
