Need a new cat converter...

Hey guys,
The second converter on the passenger side has a leak. It really isn't a problem, but it is starting to get louder and pretty embarrasing. A new cat from Ford is insanely expensive. Can I replace the two cats on each side of the truck with a 50 state legal high flow aftermarket cat and not have to worry about passing emission tests? Has anyone changed out their cats? Thanks for the info...
