Tailgate lock mechanism
Had a hiccup yesterday with the lock mechanism on my tailgate, the key did nothing. Had to remove access plate to manually unlock and while in there found a plastic plate that somehow uses arm off the key cylinder to lock/hnlock but not sure if or where or what retains it in place. Any and all assistance is appreciated. Thanks in advance..

And it might help if you gave up some info on your truck. Did you buy it used with this lock unknown to you? Are there any wires running out the bottom of the tailgate?

You can get the plastics pieces at most part stores in the help section for the Dorman items.....or go to Dorman an look for your items...

Thanks for trying but was hoping for possible picture of how it was supposed to be from OEM but never found. After tearing apart tailgate to get at latch found that the pivot pin on plastic lock part was broken, replaced with short stove bolt and nylons nut. It works perfect now.
