I have a 2013 Ford F250 6.7 diesel. Mirrors are power all the way around with , including extension, memory and the chrome cap. Someone hit my mirror and cracked the casing, blew out the mirrors but it still operates fine. In looking at the mirror it appears that I could remove some screws and just replace the broken case pieces. Of course you cant just buy those you have to get the whole thing for about $1000. If I bought a non power mirror could I just remove the mirrors, and use the casing parts? Other than the power guts the mirror seems to be the same. I could file an insurance claim but seems silly for something under 2K. That being said I really dont want to spend over a thousand bucks for a mirror.
I replaced both my mirrors with aftermarket mirrors from Ebay. Looked for the least expensive replacements. Little over 100 for both. Saved the old ones for parts, as you can buy replacement glass, but not the clips that hold it in.
Doesn't the passenger side mirror require the ambient air sensor to operate the engine correctly? The aftermarket mirrors I've found available on Amazon do not have this sensor.
Try 1A Auto. I got the aftermarket mirrors from them for my 2011. The first one didn't work right, so they sent another one. It worked perfect for as long as I had the truck. They did not want me to return the other one, so I took it apart, and found that a little plastic runner popped out of the gears slot. Put it back in, and had another new mirror (I sold it later). Great customer service, and way cheaper mirrors. Again, they are aftermarket, but they looked identical and worked great.
Yes the mirrors are $1000 a tire shop damaged mine and thier mechanic told me it was $1000 to replace mine. They ordered using my VIN, the first they got did not have all the electronics is it.
I finally found a reasonably priced passenger side mirror with the temp sensor and heated glass at partsgeek.com. The problem with my oem mirror is that the metal internals of the arm that connects the body of the mirror assembly to the door is severely rusting out and breaking apart. The mirror won't fully fold back against the door and I can tell that it's only a matter of time before the arm breaks in half. (The driver's side mirror is fine).
