Gonna get worse if these covid numbers keep going higher. I'm hoping that they don't, but gut feeling is telling me that we are going to be in a world of hurt within a few months.
Plenty of OT there...when I was in the work force...60-65 hours a week was pretty much the norm for me. I can assure you that I DON'T miss those days!!!
I too am afraid that COVID 19 is going to keep ravaging the country...there are way too many un-vaccinated people out there. The rate of infection is rising in every state in the country. Personally...I've gone back to wearing a mask when out in public...I'm one of those at high risk due to underlying circumstances. A positive diagnosis is likely a death sentence for me...and...I'm just not ready to go yet. Be safe out there!!!
Good morning Massachusetts...and...all who visit this Saturday #4!!! Hang in there...the weekend is just around the bend...something to look forward to!!! We missed all the rain last night...it all went south and east of us...some areas got a lot of rain. Todays forecast is for mostly cloudy skies with a chance of scattered showers all day. Temps should be in the mid 70s...and...obviously...plenty of humidity. Hope MA Nature is taking care of you well!!!
The Saawx pitching was fantastic last night...giving up only 5 hits and striking out 18 Tigers batters as they won 4-1. The Saawx hitters banged out 3 home runs in the win. By doing so...the Saawx remained 1 game behind the Rays who also won. The "SPOILERS" lost their second game last night maintaining their lead over the Saawx for last place.
I think there just might be a bunch of slacking on my agenda today...eat your hearts out!!!

Docs couldn't 100% say yes but they believe I had it back in Nov 2019. Full blown pneumonia, lungs were about 50% shutdown. Tested for everything known at that time and everything came back negative. Was not a fun couple of months trying to restart my lungs. Multiple inhalers, steroids at levels that were ridiculous, antibiotics as precautionary measures. I probably should have been in the hospital but I'm dumb and wife was 3rd trimester and got pneumonia 2 weeks after i did.. My 2 yr old at the time was hospitalized 2 weeks prior to me getting sick with severe dehydration, symptoms mimicking kawasaki disease, pneumonia. Took 5 nurses to get an I.V. into her, 4 to hold each limb and I ended up having to armbar her across her chest to keep her down long enough for the 5th nurse to get the needle in (on the 4th try... she kept missing).
after I got her calmed down... I told her I was sorry, she looked at me and said "its ok daddy, I still love you" and fell asleep finally while holding my hand.
I bring it up because I was hoping we as a country were on a path to getting this virus under control... but now we are dealing with "delta variant" and due to other countries lacking ways to get this vaccine out to their people, now also have "delta plus" and Lambda which is being called "the doomsday varient" due to its viral load and how contagious it is. Now I get to worry even more about my kiddos and if I get it again, is it going to end up killing me since my lungs are trashed.....

I lost a number of friends to the infection...all 65+...and...know a few who were less seriously ill. One young lady I know...a 34 year old nurse...contracted it and was very ill for about 5 weeks...not hospital ill...but...pretty much incapacitated. Fortunately she made a full recovery. Her husband also had it about the same time and didn't even know it...didn't find out until he had some blood drawn and was informed that he had the anti-bodies present.
Some scary sheat about your little girl...must have brought tears to your eyes when she said that she still loved you!!! Hope you all are doing well now.
Again...stay safe out there...don't take any chances. I'm certainly not.
Morning Ken, Lin, Don, John, all MASS and friends. Another cool day here (comparably) in MD...high of 78, cloudy. Lovin' it while it lasts.
Lin, you really ought to go knock on her door and let her know what your camera caught. Much better than shooting her (I know you weren't going to) . I have used my pellet gun to slow the proliferation of squirrels in my back yard for a number of years now. Haven't had to use it for about a year now tho.
Have you seen the newest ammo for pellet guns lately ? Let's say I sure wouldn't want to be the target for some of these lethal "pellets" ! https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1015747748
I have read about those.. wow... I heard there are some big $$ in the pellet world but then again there is a big thing in every kind of sport or whim-think about those people that dress up for cartoon things
Yeah I have no intention of killing/injuring it. My pellet is just for the loud Poff noise to scare away things. Real bullets are for hunting and not worth it here in suburbia lol.
I'll knock on her door maybe today, she is weird...

1000% agree, as I've said from the beginning, it's not going away anytime soon and I am glad I left the medical field Jan 2020 !
Ken I too started to wear my mask in stores the other week, just to be on the safe side. If I go there is no one to take care of my DD.. who needs someone.
You know I just realized that I was not on yesterday ?? I could have sworn that I posted something. Maybe not. Been busy looking for jobs. Bumped into an acquaintance who works for the USPS so I was looking into working there. There will always be mail
Raining out now
Taz "(on the 4th try... she kept missing)" Not sure if you are in the medical biz or not, but kids are a very hard stick to begin with. Add Dehydration to it and it's almost Always going to be a multiple stick try. Heck it's hard on adults that are dehydrated. It is sad for us trying to do it and I know hard for the parents too. I used to cry with the kiddos as soon as their first tear wells up... I'm a cryer lol. They usually forget fast once they start to feel better.
The ONLY way to stop Covid is to shut down the WORLD for a month straight, period. It has to die first and the only way to do that is for it not to spread.. only way not to spread is to stop everyone.
Morning Ken, Lin, Don, John, all MASS and friends. Lin, FYI, your statement about mail: " There will always be mail", it not necessarily true. There are parts of Baltimore that hasn't had mail delivered for over a year now. I'm sure there are other parts of the country with the same problem. Of course, they are blaming COVID.
Ken, I don't believe that your Saawx will be winning the loosing battle ! The Oh's are too experienced in that matter.
Morning ken-ster, Lin, Don, PAtrick and all of Massachusetts. I am watching the covid numbers as well. I dont need to get it again, Neither does anyone in my house. My dad is still recovering from it. He still hasnt gone back to work and is still on oxygen. Everyone in my house has gone and gotten the covid vaccine to help insure we dont get it again. I know several people that have passed away from Covid or complications caused by covid.

yes it did... lots of onions being cut around me for some reason.
The nurses got my the "reclining metal chair " while in the e.r. so I could sit with her. (My back is trash, broke it years ago body boarding in the Atlantic. 10 ft wave across my lower back. For more details, in person and a beer) .She would occasionally tighten her grip on my hand while sleeping, as if checking to see if I was still there..

I agree, and yes medical/pharmacy technician/reserve law enforcement.
I know its tough with little ones, my 1yr old will see the nurse coming into the room at the pediatrician office with the immunization box and start crying because he knows what it means, and mean daddy just laughs while trying to calm him down.
it was frustrating with getting her the i.v. because the nurse was a newbie and kept missing. The senior nurse took over on the 4th attempt and asked for assistance since my little girl was understandably worked up ( I may or may not have said a few choice words , which is why she took over... luckily I knew them from L.E. duties so they didn't take offense to it, and I did apologize after the fact...) .

Morning Lin...yepper...with my compromised immune system...I'm taking absolutely NO chances. Just got home from the supermarket...about half the customers were wearing masks...and virtually all of the employees were wearing them. I don't care what the naysayers claim about the efficacy of masks...better to be safe than sorry.
We have a few sprinkles...nothing to write home about though.
Good luck with the continuing job search. Did you hear anything about the job that switched hours on you at the last minute???

Good morning Bud...the USPS is struggling due to the onset and popularity of EMAIL. I think that...in the not too distant future...you'll see many "satellite" offices close...and...there will be a RIF implemented by not replacing retiring employees. Does a town with 8500 residents need 4 postal facilities??? Do we need mail delivery 6/7 days a week??? It will take some adjusting on our part...but...it MUST be done. Same thing with our newspapers...you're an avid paper reader...as am I...I love to hold a paper in my hand...but...with the proliferation of the Inter-web...advertising revenues have drastically dropped...circulations have shrunk...as has the paper. It won't be too long in the future when there is no such thing as a printed newspaper.
It's a shame what Angelos has done to the Orioles franchise and their loyal fans. What was once a premier franchise has been allowed to deteriorate so 1 person can get richer than he already is. Most definitely shoving it up the ***** of those who buy tickets...pay inflated concession prices...and...spend their hard earned $$$ on souvenirs.

Good morning Shaun-ster...I wasn't aware that you were infected. Hopefully your experience wasn't too bad. Best wishes for your Dad's eventual recovery. Hopefully you're wearing a mask!!!

She's a cutie...doesn't look very comfortable there...but...I'm sure Dad's hand was comforting. Nothing like the relationship between a man and his daughter!!!

There is NO reason for that too happen...a medical professional...whether it be a Nurse...a Tech...a Phlebotomist...or...even a MD should get more than 2 tries at an IV...no matter how "difficult" the stick is. I would have requested a new nurse etc after the first failed stick. NO ONE will take offense at that request. Your request should...at least initially...be polite...but...firm. At the clinic my niece works at...RN...she is known as "The Needle Whisperer"...if anyone has trouble with an IV they call Melanie. No shame for the one who fails...it just sometimes happens.

Ken everyone in my house had it back in December. Myself and my younger brother were the ones who got over it the quickest. For me and him it was mostly like a really deep bad chest cold. My mom and my brothers significant other had it pretty bad compared to us but my dad had it the worst. He had to go into the hospital several times. Both for Covid and pneumonia from the covid. Luckily he did not have to be put on a ventilator or anything like that. After the hospital a stay in a rehab facility for several weeks and he was back home. Still needs oxygen but he can get by most of the day with out which is a good thing. The doctors are saying he might not get much more lung function back then what he has now. They will know more over the next several weeks. Luckily where he works at has been great and has been paying him his regular pay the whole time he has been out of work. They have told him take all of the time he needs to get better. Ifhe cant come back to the department he was in they have room for him in the back office to help with training and the like when he can come back.

Count your blessings...don't take any stupid chances!!! No shame in wearing a mask when you can't social distance...I do...and...no one is going to convince me otherwise. Sounds like Dad has a great employer!!!
He does Ken. Believe it or not he works for Home Depot. Ken I dont take chances. Thats why as soon as I was able to I went and got the vaccine. 2 shots of the Phizer vaccine.
Being fully vaccinated...I am as well...Moderna...had to support the local company...doesn't mean you don't need to mask in public...even at work. You can still get one of the newer variants.
