2017 sync3 superduty issues
awhile back i noticed when traveling very far (like maybe a couple of states away) my sync3 would lag.
gps wouldn't work right, if i hit a button to go to the settings, audio, etc...it would really lag before switching screens.
i downloaded and installed the latest version.
took another trip a week ago, and the same thing.
it acts fine locally around where i live, but when i get some distance away it seems to act up.
i'm reluctant to take it to a dealer as it works fine now close to home, and i have 97,000 miles on it so i'm sure it's not under any kind of warranty.
i read on different pages that possibly an APIM module is in order.
any ideas of what my problem is? and if that's it, what it costs to put an APIM module in?

The symptoms you described, especially the laggy and slow response after touching the screen are dead giveaways.
You can replace the APIM yourself but you will also have to program it to your VIN# and this can be done via FORScan or the aftermarket company you purchase it from can program it for you before shipping it to you.
With that being said and depending on the Ford dealer, you’re going to be in the $500.00 - $800.00 range versus the price of the aftermarket sellers of $250.00 - $400.00.
