21 f250 XLT, 6.7 diesel, bought Jan 9th. 26 miles when I got it, drove it home from the dealer that day and the 8 inch sync screen started doing random stuff. Stays locked on the nav screen and the location bounces all over the globe. It actually has my location in africa and then washington DC. Can't use any button on the screen. Dealer is over 100 miles away so I used the local one. They have replaced the APIM module that didn't fix it, reprogramed it/ made sure all software is up to date. Then tell me it needs the telematic control module. Even doing the sync reboot using the power and the seek up buttons doesn't fix anything.I drove it for a few days while waiting on backordered module. It came in earlier then they expected, installed it and they said it didn't fix the problem. They ordered a gps antenna it arrived this past sat after the snowstorm week we had. Installed antenna still didn't fix it. They sent a hotline report to ford and ford has instructed them to order the audio control module. This was wed this week. I bought it Jan 9th and it's been in the shop since the beginning of Feb. the manager did give me the ford cust service number and I spoke to a guy about all the issues. They put me in a ford fusion loaner car.
If this doesn't fix it, should I speak with ford and the dealership about starting a buyback. What's the process on that.
Calm down, it’s not something that’s affecting the drivability of the vehicle or a safety feature so there’s no need to go down the Buy Back road.
Yes, I know it’s frustrating but any part on any vehicle and on any brand can fail or start acting crazy at any time regardless if the vehicle is brand new or not.
Give them the chance to try any figure it out and hopefully fix it.
I'm gonna let them continue to work on it, I haven't made a payment yet, but I will have to in a couple weeks. If it's not fixed, even the service manager told me to contact Ford about covering my first payment. I get that it's still drivable, and they are just following the steps in the service books. It's just frustrating dealing with a month old truck that i can't enjoy due to a non working screen.
Easy to tell if it's the ACM, put the sync in diagnostic mode and go to satellites see how many are in view and how many are actually in use? Willing to bet the in use is less than in view. There is a short jumper harness Ford used and it's behind the glove box, this harness has been known to be hanging there and not connected properly to the ACM.
New update to my issue, the dealer has now had the truck for over 30 consecutive days. They have replaced 3 different modules APIM telematic control module and the gps antenna. The last was the audio control module as directed by ford tech support. They are awaiting a response from ford again for the next repair step.
I have submitted a buyback claim with ford and have email correspondence with the agent on this issue. They are submitting the claim, although Im 90% sure they will deny it. The agent always references lemon even though I stated buyback, not sure if these are the same thing. I thought those two were very different. I'm in texas. The dealer did give me a 21 f150 today instead of the fusion car that they first loaned me. Dealer also told me to get with ford about my truck and insurance payments for a truck I don't have and can't drive. I've been nice with them this whole time, they are appreciative of me being so understanding about the whole thing.
Also just comical at this point, the 21 F150 they gave me, with 150 miles on it, after I got back to work I realized that the drivers window doesn't work. Fixed that at home by removing the door panel and checking the harness.

I bet both issues are due to human error, induced by Ford shuffling people around in the factory due to Covid absentees.
Got a call.from ford, they have approved the buyback. A rep will be contacting me next week to discuss the details. Truck currently has 1796.7 miles, was built dec 11th of last year. Hoping they will offer what I paid. Shouldn't be hardly any depreciation, the dealer has now had it longer than I have. Anybody else have a similar experience.
I’m having same issue with my navigation screen going all over the world. Have they figured out what the cause is on your ‘21 super duty? Thanks for any feedback
They replaced the entire screen, per the ford hotline engineers. They were directed to pull a screen from a like vehicle and try that. After they replaced the screen it was all working correctly.
I ended up taking the cash and keep option. I got 7K from ford. All warranties still apply.
