No GPS

Hey everyone. My GPS keeps getting lost. Sometimes it knows where I am and other times it thinks i am driving through shopping malls. Of course i was 300 miles out of warranty when it started. I've watched some videos online about replacing the module but cannot find it in the truck. It doesn't appear to be under the dash mat but I may have missed it. I have a new module sitting here just trying to figure out where it goes.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

It’s called an APIM and it’s attached to the back of the 8 inch display screen in the center stack.

What type of module do you have.

A forced reset normally fixes it. However pull up the diagnostic mode and look at how many satellites are in view and in use. This will let you determine if there is a hardware issue.

By reset, are you saying that you’ve done a soft reboot which involves pressing the power and track forward button on the radio at the same time or are you talking about a Master Reset.

Might be worth a diagnostics fee - most likely APIM

Mine would occasionally mess up as well, most notably the last time during a 7 hour drive around hour 4 the tracker stopped moving and would just circle around a single area. When i pulled over and shut the truck down for a rest, when restarted the navigation worked again. But it has done it a few times where it gets confused. Then last week i couldnt dim the screen anymore, couldnt change radio stations, steering wheel controls stopped working for the radio. Doing the "Master Reset" in the setting screen didnt do squat, only thing that fixed it was holding the power and seek button. So far so good but i know at some point the APIM may need to be replaced... which at that point i may consider going aftermarket but we'll see.

The master reset resets all your settings but a forced reset will clear errors in my experience. I'd start there. Entering diagnostics mode (although I've never tried it) appears to be pressing eject and the skip forward button for about 9 seconds.

Thank you System I will try that tomorrow. I have tried everything else and it hasn't worked so far. I've been moving so haven't been able to update the thread.
