Thanks for the picture. The stud on mine isn't coming out of the top of the nut. Ill definitely be getting on that asap!

Never underestimate the placebo effect. I have changed shocks on thirty or so vehicles of mine over the years and the only night and day difference were 100,00 or more miles old shocks.

Tighten the top nut until the rubber bushing is the same diameter (flush) as the metal washer.
