Hey guys, got a quick question about cold weather high idle. I deleted the EBPS pedestal a while ago and just left the plug hanging in the valley. I've noticed that if it's cold enough, my truck will go to about 900rpm and stay their until I either hit the brake or the throttle. Does it in the stock tune, any of the 1023 tunes, as well as any of the Jelibuilt tunes. Is this normal for the PCM to still bump the idle up even though the EBPS pedestal is gone and the plug is unplugged?
The PCM will raise the idle automatically after a couple minutes based on oil temp and intake air temp. Mine will go as high as 1150 or so in very cold conditions. Has to be in Park in automatics and with the manuals the parking brake has to be on.
Would be be nice if they included some sort of stationary idle control but I don’t think they do that even on the new ones.

The Ford Auxiliary Idle Controller will provide that function.
Also can hard wire a switch into the under dash harness if you have a PTO Transmission.
In both cases the parking brake has to be set as well.

i would like one of those controllers but they are pretty hard to come by at a reasonable price.

Yes they are. I sold my controller after I installed a set of calibrations prepared by Cody where one was a high idle setting.
My wife's truck has a PTO trans (without an actual PTO installed) but the high idle feature works so that is nice. I probably created or added to a thread on here that shows how it works. Only useful if you have a PTO trans though..

Dude glad to see you! We saved a stool, hope you can hang around.
I figured after a while that it was the pcm making it kick in. For a while I thought that it was tied into the EBPV and when I deleted the pedestal and unplugged the plug, I figured I'd lose the high idle. Glad to see I still have it though. Thanks for the answers guys.
