Got my new cartridge in from Prosource Diesel. Included a 360* thrust washer and billet wheel! Took about an hour to pull the old turbo and put the new one together (I’ve done it way too many times). Here it is all put together and ready to go on a pedestal and back in the truck. Hopefully this fixes my low boost issue.
Yeah I plan to add it but can’t decide on an under dash kit or sourcing the OEM parts from a donor truck. We don’t have many donors around here, which sucks.
OE all the way! Start buying stock parts. Line set, Denso comp, dryer, condenser, etc. I am unsure the difference between the wiring but it has to be simple as hell. F150+ all had the same box starting in 1994 with the larger evap.
Flushed the coolant yet and/or added a filter? Most of us rock the purple people eater colored Fleetcharge that is precharged with the good stuff for the block for cavitation issues...if you pull the block heater to drain it fully, please note it needs thread sealant to not drip!!! Mine does, so next drain and fill I will fix that.
Love the OE buckets up front, my dually has these stock. Apparently a 40/20/40 front bench fits in the back of your truck.
I am very interested to follow your build of Old Red.
Years ago I inherited a 1992 4.9L F-150 from my father when he passed. It looked just like your truck (regular cab long bed though) and was even the same color. We called it Clifford like the big red dog.
It was never going to work for us being a 4.9L and 4x2, but it was nice to have for a while. We eventually upgraded to a 2000 7.3L ZF6 and that is how we found the FTE and people such as yourself. Thank you for sharing your build with us all to watch from the comfort of our homes.
OE on the AC system. Its not too difficult wiring wise, Eric and I can go out and trace wires and snap pics as well if you get hung up on something.
Since I installed a ball valve on the heater core line my AC will get cold enough that its actually too cold in the FL summer heat. I didn't realize how much extra heat gets into the cab when the heat isn't even on.
Ha! I've had mine for 7-8 years, think its to late to register mine?
If it has gone this long without leaks, all is probably good. But would still register it anyway were it mine. There were some QC issues with their welds somewhere around that timeframe. I bough one and around that time and it started to leak about two later. Was not real happy given the purchase price and then learning about the QC issues. Sold the vehicle before I did anything about the leak.

Thanks for the info! I’m gonna get on it ASAP! I flushed just the radiator when I replaced mine with the Mishimoto, but I haven’t done a full flush yet! I want to switch to the purple too! I definitely plan to get a filter on there as well! Definitely helps keep the coolant system cleaner!

I appreciate it! I’m not the best with wiring, so I’ll definitely take you up on that when I get going on the AC!

Thanks for taking interest in it! I’m glad it could give you some nostalgia for Clifford!
I converted to e-fuel, so my filters are on the frame rail now.
That is actually a photo of Glenn's coolant filter. That is why he said they are important. That is how much silt he filtered out of his cooling system. @oldbird1965

Oh wow! My mistake! I appreciate @oldbird1965 showing me! Definitely moves the coolant filter up on the priority list. I’ll probably knock that out as soon as I finish this turbo and gauge install this weekend!

Mine looked the same! Gross.
Add a fresh high side PS line to your list, they are about $10-12. They blow at the worst times. Edelmann makes a great kit to rebuild that C2 pump for about the same cost. Easy easy. Check the brake master cylinder pressure switch too, there is a big TSB update out there for them. Ford does it free or DIY for $20.
