Yup. I go to Carwell Products in my area before winter time every year. They spray a petroleum based oil (red in color) that creeps and crawls everywhere but not inside the truck. 😆

They spray under the hood as well. They spray the wiring and the underside of the hood. That's dust and some bugs that collect on the batteries. I have not had any problems at all and according to what these guys say about corrosion forming on the hold down bars, I don't have any. So I see it as a win.

HRT, it's funny you mentioned Juice. That's a family nickname long before Orenthal James Simpson came to the Buffalo Bills and Lou Saban nicked named him OJ or "Juice."

My 2016 still has the original leaky batteries from the factory which is going on 5 years now and I want to replace them before they give me trouble. I will not be replacing them with another serviceable battery that leaks and corrodes so the Odyssey is looking like a very good option even though they are pricey. Like Rodney said it's money well spent to not be worried about corrosion issues.
I get about 10 years out of mine. NO BS!! There is a bit of a catch thought to get that many years out of one. You need to put a charger on them every once in a while that is designed for the Odyssey battery. It likes a certain charge voltage and procedure. I have the Odyssey charger. Will bring one back almost every time for up to about ten years. I think Battery Minder also makes a charger that has an Odyssey specific setting too.

The Odyssey in our 4Runner lasted 4 years and 1 month (1 month past warranty). It was charged monthly with an Odyssey approved automatic charger. Vehicle was garage kept here near the Gulf Coast (no cold temps). I verified with an electronic Snap On tester that the batt was finished, would only hold 62% of CCA rating after a 25A charge cycle. I replaced it with a Die Hard Platinum AGM from the parts store, as it was ~$150 less expensive than Odyssey's current pricing which has skyrocketed recently.

I have a pair of 'Extreme' series Odyssey batts in our 6.0 that are about 2.5 years old and holding 92% and 97% of rated CCA as of last week when I tested them. They also get charged monthly with an approved charger.

I was/am a fan of Odyssey batts, but with them now being almost $400 per battery (Extreme series) I just don't see the value. There are only a few battery producers and I feel their premium lines of batteries do well. My future batts will be whatever the best parts store AGM battery happens to be at that time. Walmart batts get great reviews, I believe Project Farm on YouTube did a test between batts and the Walmart line did well.

That's a bad thing, not a good thing for batteries. Heat is what kills them.

Reviving this thread. I read somewhere that AGM batteries will discharge faster than lead-acid batteries if they sit for a while. My truck will sit for a week, sometimes two between uses. I'm needing new batteries now, the original batteries are over five years old and I have 34,600 miles on the truck: 2019 F-250 Lariat 6.7L PSD 4WD.

The AGM batteries I've seen online have 4-year warranties, while the lead-acid have only 3-year warranties.

Advice?

Put a smart charger on for the two weeks it isn't in use and there's no worry about how much an AGM will discharge. I switched to AGM when one my factory batteries failed at 7 years My truck sits for weeks, maybe a couple months, so I have a CTEK smart charger on it.

Get a pair of lead acid Duracells at Sam’s Club and be done with it.

I didn't want to deal with the corrosion and off-gassing of a flooded lead acid battery.

You'd be fine with Overkill Juice....

Topping them off. I'll be putting them in later today when we hit 10*F. BTW, Napa has 25% off right now. I got these for $660. Took a day to get them. Pretty good deal.

Might want to edit photo to remove that shipping label

Yes seems like everything made from spring 2020-late 2022 is pure crap.

Just put a battery in my wife's 22' F150.... Dead or shorted cell or something. truck saw alot of highway miles, not short trips...

The batteries in my 2019 looked about the same when I swapped them out in January of 2023. I threw in a set of Cat flooded lead acid group 65s. Circa $137 a pop and no issues so far. Usually I am a Napa legend person but the Cat batteries where a good 50 bucks a unit cheaper at the time.

My passenger side Motocraft recently died and I put in two Walmart AGMs. So far so good.
I keep a tender on the truck since I don't drive it often.

After having two sets of batteries fail in 3 years (and only the first pair gets warranty coverage at Autozone), I realized I had to change what I was doing. The truck wasn't getting driven often. So, I installed an onboard Noco battery tender in the truck, and then installed a plug in my winch bumper. Easy to plug and unplug now.
