Im almost due for new batteries, probablly in the next week or two. I notice when the truck sits for more than a day without starting, it really lags and almost doesnt start. It will be fine afterwards. What do you guys recommend for batteries??? Ive had good luck before with Interstate, but want to know what else you guys been using???
If you want to drop the cash, you might want to take a look at Optima YellowTops. For a standard battery, the OEM Motorcraft batteries don't hold up badly, at least in my experience.
Agreed. I've got almost 4 years on my original batteries, truck driven daily. I have read that the Autozone Duralast batteries are pretty good. OE, Optima, Walmart, Autozone, and others all made by Johnson Controls.
Interstate makes a great battery, definitely can't go wrong there. If you want to drop the cash on optimas, they are nice too, but I dont really think you need them.
I am new to the forum and I am impressed with all the information here. I am also having lagging problems with my batteries when I first start it up. I took the truck to a local parts store and had the batteries checked and they said they were fine. Is this possible to be lagging and still show that they are fine? I am leaning toward the motorcraft batteries.
My OEM Motorcraft batteries on my 03 FX4 are still working for me, and I frequently travel over rutted offroads that bounce and shake them a lot as well.
I'm having the same problem. After 2 days it won't start on it's own. I am planning on taking it to Ford tomorrow I'm still under the 3/36 does anyone know if batteries are covered ?
I think they are still covered under your 3/36 warranty. Additionally, the Motorcraft battery warranty covers TOWING - I don't think any other battery does that!
the towing warrenty is pretty cool...but my insurance covers that too, so im good on that. I think Ill be going to the Interstates...The yellow tops arent worth the $ for my situation, unless I plan to be upside down off roading somewhere, but I dont think so!!!
Thanx for the info....
