I think the FordPass app is having compatibility problems with the newest version of iOS because when I have everything turned off on the app, it’s using serious amounts of battery power and I also notice the same thing on the Ford/Alexa app.
Both apps, with everything turned off including being turned off in the cellular setting was using over 40% of the battery in my iPhone XS Max.
Needless to say, I just deleted both apps.
Also I noticed that the oil life feature has been missing from the FordPass app since the last two updates.
Please start your own thread for a new question. What you are talking about is about the truck guts and app, not just the app
I was asking here to see if it was an issue with the app itself or if there was a correlation between not having the TCU and having the TCU as to whether or not it was working properly. When I bought the truck 2 months ago, I had mileage, oil, air pressure, map all working. Now I have nothing. I'm seeing people who are having issues with this app and people who don't and I'm trying to see if it's because of the lack of hardware or what. Sorry to step on your thread, but that's the whole purpose is to find out what's going on. Mine was working fine till the update to 3.11, but even now on 3.12, it's still not working. And if there's an issue with the app, is it because of the something in the truck causing issues or is it Ford's system that is causing the issue? That's why I asked in here, is because I see others having issues. Just trying to get some answers.
iPhone running iOs 14.2 and FordPass App 3.12 which I updated today. Everything running smoothly, even noticed my dealer uploaded last weeks service records.
Same here, iOS 14.2, FordPass 3.12, on an Verizon iPhone XS Max, no issues and all data shows as it should (tires, oil, map, mileage, etc)...no issues...
Keith, there is an issue with the Phone App.
I would look at the '17 specs to see if it is on there but I think it isn't and that is why I said to open a new thread so that people can see it and help with you.
But I also think there is a thread on this already ?
I have a 2018 and the oil life and fuel level were displayed before. Now nothing. Evidently it is still talking to truck because it does list mileage in the details section. So nothing wrong with anything other than the junk app or the backend that supports it.
Really dumb of Ford to not build in a way to read oil life percentage from within the truck itself vs. having to rely on a app that they half heartedly support.

Lin19687, thanks for the info. I kinda figured there was an issue with the app after reading this thread (very helpful btw) but I was curious about whether or not the owners replying here had the TCU in their trucks or not. That's all. Mine doesn't have the TCU (which I'll change that as soon as I can) but I was trying to determine if that was what was sending the data to the app. It appears most of these are newer (2018 and up) trucks so there is a good chance that they have a TCU module and that is where the data is coming from.
I've seen the thread on adding the module to the trucks and I did it on my F150 before. I'll probably do it on this one when I have the resources available to do it. But thanks for answering my questions. I won't clutter up this thread with the TCU stuff anymore. Hopefully Ford will get their stuff together and get this working properly. Funny part was that mine worked OK for a while, just no lock/unlock or remote start, but the data was there for fuel, oil, tires, etc. Now I get none of it. Hopefully they'll figure it out.
It appears to me, and I could be wrong, that on the Android Level, (IF THEY"D LISTEN OR READ OUR COMPLAINTS ON GOOGLE PLAYSTORE), all they have to do is make 3.10.0 available until they figure out what the glitches are, and folks could go back to operating properly - seems most everyone on Android ran well with 3.10.0? I am... absolutely NO problems! (knock, knock, knock)!
Today I reset and reinstalled everything possible, but still no change. My truck is a 2018 so it talks to phone using USB cable. But app itself does not gather any data from truck because on owner.ford.com web site it says there is no data for truck. It could be new app version or iOS 14 at fault. Something could be screwy with truck I suppose too, but was wondering if there is any way to troubleshoot that?

you might need to re-enter your truck info with the VIN.
Wow... last night, got an AT&T Software and Security Update on my Android (long awaited October and November Security) - after completing, went to start the truck to go pickup some take-out food for dinner - "Truck Failed to Start"! Re-booted Phone with a "Clear System Cache", same thing! Ended up doing the 3.12.0 Update, much to my fear, but knowing I had my backup of 3.10.0 in hand! Truck started right up, first try... only thing that doesn't seem to be working at the moment is Messages, it says I have none, when I had about 9 before. Will have to try again with the truck running later!!!
I'm glad I updated mine last week. It was eating my battery and causing my iPhone to heat up like an oven. Was 95% of my 24 hour battery usage. With latest iOS and latest FordPass, that's gone away, but it does take a minute for a door lock command to get through to the truck. But, it does work.

Which versions of the app and iOS?
I had to delete mine middle of last week as it was eating 80% of my battery in under 4 hours.

The app is still not really optimized for iOS 14.2 because I recently installed the FordPass app again and I didn’t turn anything related to the FordPass app on including cellular and just like before, it was eating up the battery in my IPhone XS Max and causing my phone to heat up.
In less than an hour after downloading the app again to my fully charged iPhone, the battery usage chart showed 35% consumed.
Yes, I just deleted it again.
For iPhone owners on iOS version 14.2 which is the latest and greatest and with the FordPass app on the phone, if your phone is heating up, take a look at the battery usage because more than likely, the FordPass app is very power hungry.

iPhone XS Max...iOS 14.2...FordPass v3.12.0...No issues, my battery will last 2 days...In Settings-->Battery, the FordPass app doesn't even make the list of apps using battery power...All functions of the app work (mileage, oil life, remote start, location, lock/unlock, fuel, etc)...I use Verizon for service...
Where in GA are you located, I am over in Carrollton...
