I am certain i am missing something, somewhere, and that this must be fairly easy, but i cannot seem to locate video, or instructions anywhere.
Speaking of the pull out cupholder on the dash with the useless flip up cup holders, i have taken the bolts out of it, and it is still stuck solid as a rock.
How do i get the damn thing out, i see replacements online so it must be possible.
I want to investigate possibilities to mount a 2-way Radio in its place, and make it sit about flush with the dash face.
I just pulled my wife's out of our 2001.. I had to use a flat headed screw driver about 1/2 inch on each side on the top to push the plastic catches down so I pull it out. Take a look at the picture below
Once you get the inside piece out, there are the two bolts (one on each side). However, I think you'll be better off with the removal if you remove the lower dash first. Just makes life easier. It's been too long since I puled mine, so I can't tell you exactly how to do it, but I do remember that I found it to be a bit pf a pain.
we use those "useless" pull out cup holders all the time, what's the problem with them that you have found that makes them so "useless". And the above suggestion of removing the lower dash section is the way to go, especially as you are looking to mount a radio in that spot, much easier to ensure the needed room behind the opening for the radio and easier to mate up the faceplate with the dash section on the bench.
Im talking about the Pull out Cup holder on the dash, i never use it and it doesn't hold anything anyway, its the one that has the flip up holders, not the one that holds the cup like a wrap around the bottom, i upgraded the center console cup holder to the deep well cup holders, and i use those ones instead. I don't need 4 front cup holders when there are 2 more next to my elbow.
